So that about wraps up Tier 2 of the prospects - will be interesting to see where it goes from here. No real consensus after the top-8, I don't think.

It seems Pedan is going to be the forgotten prospect this year. He has a shot at cracking the Canucks roster, if he passes waivers and plays in Utica he would be one of their best dmen and he has played around 130 games in Utica, which is an abnormally small amount for someone who requires waivers. He has all the tools and size, he some mistakes but I don't think he is done improving. The CHL and college prospects left look decent, but Pedan would be a top player in the AHL, which is a big step up.

Lots of D in the top 10. That's a change from previous years. It's best to stock up on d prospects as they can surprise. All consistent good teams are able to develop young Ds a la san Jose, new jersey, preds. A lack of centers is concerning though.

Cassels had a bad year as he was recovering from his long season and subsequent injuries. Wouldn't be surprised if he had a rise in production like Shinkaruk after his first AHL season.

Going with Cassels here.

Until Cassels puts on a strong AHL effort, we ain't got much to assess positively. In my mind, Gaudette, Brisebois and Pedan are all ahead of him based on a combination of both ceiling and "what have you done for me lately".

I would think those guys are generally considered ahead mostly on "what have you done for me lately". Cassels +1 year was really good and his +2 was even better. If Gaudette and Brisbois can put up comparable rises then they definitely have the prospect advantage. Pedan is a wild card. Things were looking pretty good until he got called up to be a forward and Bart + Weber got more time on D. One of the worst decisions by Free Willy in terms of prospect handling.

Well sounds like arguments people made against Hutton and Tryamkin last year lol

And this is the guy we have behind the bench during this rebuilding period....

Is Pedan a prospect if he needs to clear waivers? I voted for him just due to lack of options but realistically he really isn't a prospect anymore since he'll likely be either on the team or be on another NHL team (like Corrado last year).

Pedan does need to clear waivers this year.

Guy can't skate and can't process the game quickly. I don't rate him as much of a prospect at all, but he's definitely a prospect for the purposes of this poll.

Both Pedan and Cassels are in the same boat; they need to prove they can skate next season. I personally prefer Pedan as a prospect as long as he goes back to Utica (which probably won't happen).

Going with Cassels. He's shown much more in juniors than Brisebois at this point and the only reason Brisebois looks more attractive in my mind is that he hasn't been put in a "bust" situation yet by having to reach the next level (AHL or NHL). Cassels had a bad year but he isn't the first player to struggle in their first season of pro hockey. Hopefully with a full summer to train he can work his way up to the top-6 on our farm team.

Cassels's first year of pro hockey had to be the worst transition a star junior player has made to the pros I have ever seen. I won't write him off due due his injury last summer, but he has to show massive improvement this year to even be considered an NHL prospect.

Went with Gaudette - his second half rise showed he has a ton of potential.
