Twice in a row now the Canes two goalies have let in early goals and clamped down the lead to hold on and win the game.

I wouldn't say the goalies "let in" the first goal in either the Rangers or Canucks game. Both games the D was caught up ice due to the new style of play.
In the Rangers game Slavin doesn't stop the puck at the blue line and van Riemsdyk is left agains two players, when TVR can't deflect the puck Mrazek is out to dry.
In the Canucks game, it appears Slavin is caught deep in the offensive zone and Hamilton misplays the pass so that McElhinney is alone against the shooter.

Nucks didn't get a shot after the ~7:30 mark. The rest of the game was in their own zone. Edler's penalty was just frustration, glad to see Foegele was alright. Brindy flipped a switch and suddenly it was Bill Peters hockey, playing keep away in the ozone, all over again.

HCRB'A was alternating between FSW and Martinhook Wallmark Svetch/McGinn for a while in that stretch. Aho's line didn't see too much, Necas and friends got benched. It's awful Rask was hurt, him centering Necas and McGinn might work.

Overall a bit like the Isle game, the defense didn't allow much of anything at ES outside a stretch pass where Dougie got caught flat footed, then clamped down in the final 10 minutes to seal a win.

I'm not too concerned who was to blame for the goals, only that both goalies were able to compose themselves and see the game through. McStarter had 3 goals scored on him in the first 25 minutes of the games and then locked in a 1 goal lead for another full period and a half. Mrazek had 5 scored on him and was able to make big saves when it mattered throughout the 3rd period against NYR. Possible that their fortitude is coming from Rod or the team in front on them, but it is a nice change.

Maybe it would be better if Necas didn't have bums like PDG on his wings. I get you're trying to spread the rookies out but f*** it, give me Svech-Necas-Zykov and give them every o-zone start possible #ironcurtainline

Otherwise, just get rid of PDG bring up mckegg or someone so that Necas can play wing for a bit. Though I think svech and zykov should be on a line together.

PDG has the look of a guy about to get sent down. He has shot talent but not much else offensively and his energy game isn't all that effective compared to McGinn or Martinook and on top of that he doesn't PK. Nordstrom would've been a much more useful player the way the team is currently setup if we had chosen to keep him.

Necas has been getting a lot of heat for his defense, but to me the greater concern is his turnovers. Officially he has the highest turnover rate on the team by a large margin and the worst turnover +/- on the team. Unofficially, he sometimes seems to want to just get rid of the puck any way he can. Which is perhaps understandable for a kid still working his way into a new league, but it's a habit he needs to fix in fairly short order. He's in this league to be an offensive force and a puck carrier, not to be a possession-ender. Too many of his shifts end up in our zone (where his defensive shortcomings get exposed) because he flips a bouncing pass into a teammate's skates and the other team is all over it.

Slavin transitions like Karlsson. It's the confidence that nobody is going to stop him that makes it special.

Something that took me a long while to put my finger on, is that he is a decently tall guy (6'3") who uses a very long stick, but he handles the puck as deftly as someone much shorter. If you watch him with the puck on his stick, even in that replay, he dips around Petterssen and then suddenly extends his reach so that two Canucks can't reach it, but without losing control as he's cutting up ice. Keep an eye on it, you'll see it more and more... he'll flip a little saucer pass through traffic on his backhand, or slip around someone in a tight corner, but then all of a sudden he's holding someone off with one hand and reaching out with the other so that the puck looks like it's a mile away. It reminds me just a little bit of Jagr, obviously much less skilled but he has that combination of touch and reach when he's playing the puck in traffic.

Don't remember his exact quotes but Rod was singing Slavin's praises in the post game, and rightfully so. He basically said that he is way underrated, and he's going to get noticed. Called him elite. Thankfully we have him locked up in a great contract.

Here's the quote:

“He’s such a good player and he’s way underrated,” Brind’Amour said. “His time will come. He’s an elite player. He took over the game, for me, on the back end.”

Just watched the game.

At one point I thought that this is going to be Rangers game once again, but nah they looked better defensively in the second part of the game. PDG has to be scratched.
Also CDH has been such a good signing for us, I am really impressed with him.

And they scored goals and won again, I am really happy! :)
