Who's going to claim Hamonic? Only part of his cap hit can be "hidden" in the minors.
he doesnt need to be claimed? if you add the cap from hamonic going down (unless this is a contract termination) + juolevi its basically 2mil.

Hiding under WTG's bed...
Hard to imagine the player we get in return having less of an impact than Olli would have. I wouldn’t call Juolevi for Nutivaara a bad trade in a vacuum.

The problem is the use of a 5th overall pick, the lack of development, and then turning that asset into a much less valuable asset over a short period of time.
But Gillis drafted guys like Schroeder and Shinkaruk!

Actually good work to get anything for him given that he was obviously getting waived.

Edit : unless they’re taking a negative-value asset like Nutivaara back, which would be worse than losing Juolevi on waivers.
It’s probably that considering they cleared Hamonic’s cap hit

Nutivaara also has a connection with Brad Shaw

Panther fans speculating that it could be Juulsen and Lammiko, who were both destined for waivers but play positions (C, RHD) that we have apparently been looking to fill, so essentially a 2 for 1 of guys about to go on waivers.

Well it's all but known that Benning won't be acquiring a late rounder in return as draft picks aren't worth obtaining until a week before the entry draft.

Wouldn't be surprised if Benning retains a bit of salary on Olli and agree with a few posters..Shaw's connection to Nutivaara makes sense or perhaps Juulsen as he's a young, injury prone, right handed shot and a former first rounder...how could Benning resist??

One of the worst picks in franchise history...Jim and John making history once again!
