Martinez is one of the most exciting fighters around right now. Deserves a big step up, Munhoz makes sense.

10-9 barboza for the super rare 48-45 scorecard on my books

That's the biggest display of heart that I've ever seen. Barboza is a pure warrior.

It also means no 10-8 3rd round where the striking discrepancy was larger than in the first round.

I think the first round was the clearer 10-8 as Edson was on the ropes for a long time. I had them both 10-8 though and thought it was pretty clear.. but no judges gave him a 10-8 3rd. Bad judging, IMO

Great fight though

I think they're both 10-8s too but I don't necessarily think there's any reason to give the first round a 10-8 more than the third round other than optics.

I get Edson visually took a lot of damage since he wore it on his face and that his legs were shaking for a couple minutes in a row but the actual striking differential was greater in the 3rd round than it was in the first. The length of domination was virtually the same in the first and third, one guy controlled almost the entirety of the rounds. Clear knockdowns in both rounds where the fight was at risk of being stopped (maybe more so in the first). Clear domination in both rounds.

Idk I thought we got clarity on 10-8 rounds a few weeks ago after the Shevchenko incident, and everything we heard there would lead me to believe both rounds should have been 10-8 on all judges scorecards.
