I tell you what- I bet Marquez-Pitolo will be a banger

any time people have no business being on a card something interesting happens*

* unless it’s a female non-contender bout

Also I know the context of the wins kind of change everything (they’re typically later in the fighters career) but Gastelum’s wins before age 30 are quite impressive

Jacare
Bisping
Belfort (I count it, the NC is because of pot)
Hendricks
Kennedy
Marquardt
Story
Ellenberger
Uriah Hall

he’s got his losses but he’s also certainly got his wins

Heinisch has my vote for coolest backstory in the UFC. Tough fighter but he’s not going to be able to box with Gastelum. I hope he brought his wrestling shoes because that’s probably a big part of his path to victory

And Bobby Green collapsed post-weigh ins......sick

obviously the status of his fight is very much in question

Andre Ewell vs Chris Gutierrez at a catch weight could be on the main card lol

I think you gotta put Belal on it? Or Boom-Simon?

Simon/Kelleher is a good fight, it should already be up the card a bit.

I think Usman will win, but hopefully Burns makes it a tough fight. Belal/Lima, Gastelum/Heinisch, Grasso/Barber are all ok fights. Can't say I care about the rest of the card at all.

The more time has passed, the more I favor Usman. Burns had all the momentum in the world after the Woodley fight and unfortunately the stars didn't align for a quick turnaround. I still think it's a hell of a matchup and could definitely see Burns winning, but Kamaru is so damn good. I know he gets a reputation for being boring but I like watching someone who is so effective at what he does.

Burns should bring out the best in the champ here. The rest of the card is weak (and why the heck is Kelleher/Simon on the fight pass prelims?), but this is one of the more intriguing main events in awhile for me.

My girlfriend is fighting in UFC 258!

who we talkin about?

Also it’s wild that we get Pitolo vs Marquez on the main card and Joe B on a prelim in a few weeks lol

Honestly though the main card for tomorrow lost 3 fights- it would look a lot better with Weidman/Hall and Munhoz/Rivera on it

Nothing like 259 still but I’d probably pay 100 bucks for 259

I gotta go with Usman, probably in a boring wrestle-f*** type of fight. Burns' big win is a broken Woodley. He just hasn't really beat anyone that makes me thing he's ready to be champ. Having said that, he has KO power and world class BJJ. So he has paths to victory. I think Usman will be extra cautious because of that, so he will probably try to hold him against the cage, foot stomp, go for a take down near the end of the round, etc.

Good to see Barber back, I guess, just not in a PPV co-main.

Gastelum is one of the more frustrating fighters to watch. I'd never bet on a Gastelum fight because you never know which guy is going to show up.

Simon-Kelleher is a fun one. Muhammad-Lima is OK, too.

Overall, tough card. Lost 3 of the better fights, but feels like the UFC was kinda punting on this one anyway.

Does anyone think a former 155er is the one to beat the most physically dominant 170er we've seen since GSP? Not sure there's much more to it than that.

Pretty sure Usman has like zero bottom time in his career and hasn’t been knocked down. Pretty amazing

from what I heard on morning kombat he got choked by Bruce Leroy’s brother early in his career and has made it a mission to never be in that situation ever again

Agree with the consensus here. It's hard to imagine Usman losing this fight and the rest of the PPV card is weak. I actually like Barber vs. Grasso but that's more of a PPV opener or prelim main event than PPV co-main. The other fights on the main card aren't bad either and I'm also kinda interested in Muhammad vs. Lima.

Even the teammate vs. teammate aspect of this doesn't add too much excitement for me. For one I think Usman is just better but he's also the one who left the team and you could make a case that he upgraded. He became a champion with that team in Florida and now he gets to train with Wittman in Denver. I didn't see a huge difference in the Masvidal fight when Usman had just started training with the new team but I think we could see an even better version of him going forward.

I want Burns to win as I dislike Usman, but I think Usman takes this. He'll just wrestle along the cage and foot stomp Burns for 5 rounds and get the win.

Fanduel locked the event before it happened and wouldn’t let me edit Gillian Robertson out

I complained in the support chat and got snippy with some dude who suggested it was my fault. My new name is Karenron. These f***ing idiots just lost a guy who was giving them free money every weekend
