The following are the preliminary results of round one of free agency for UFA Forwards and D-men. The term preliminary is used, because it’s possible an offer or two were missed in the mayhem that is the master bid grid. For those players who offered deals, but are not listed below, they were either not a high enough priority or they chose to pass on the offer for the moment, so feel free re-submit or inquire about offers not accepted.

Question, regarding my signing of Sergei Brylin.

What happens now that he's left for the KHL?

I brought this up in another thread, and here is what Doug had to say, "Pretty sure you should have the option to release him outright, rather than have him go on your prospect list. Saves you the spot, anyway."

http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=536213&page=2

Anyway, I guess the two options would be he goes on my prospect list, or I can choose to release him outright. Anyone?

Ossi Väänänen is on the LAK prospect list. I actually wanted to sign him but was disappointed to see someone still hung on to him! :p:

Same goes for Ilya Nikulin who's on the Bruins prospect list.

1. Clitsome can't get 1.3M as he is under 25
2. Hendry can't get more than 1 year, as he is 24 and subject to a mandatory 1 year entry level deal.

... and, tragically, Janne Pesonen is a Tampa draft pick from '04. I must have had a typo when I searched for him before submitting my offer. Dammit - the one potential impact player I manage to sign, and he's not available. Hopefully he'll be a good addition to the Tampa depth chart next year.

EDIT: typing at the same time, it seems. My bad, Martin. Good drafting!

I'm kinda surprised you let Sertich go.....

Yeah, I had to think long and hard about it. He was a lottery guy I "won" at the league max a couple of years ago. He's got good potential, but I wasn't prepared to make him basically a 7-figure offer to stick around - not with the depth my organization has down the middle.

Still a good prospect, though - I wish you luck with him.

I do have one question here about Zigomanis.. I offered 2yr x $650,000 for him, his 2nd round offer is 4yr x $600,000 how would i not be a finalist to acquire him?

- Andreas Thuresson is born in 1987 and is therefore not available for the FA´s.

B. European Free Agency Eligibility (New Rule)
(i) The players birth year is 1986 or earlier (the player must be a minimum 22 years of age at signing)
(ii) The player is currently in a North American league or has signed a contract to return to the NHL for the 2008/09 season (GM must provide a link supporting the latter)

- NYR signing M-L Teslak is probably Michael-Lee, the goalie I signed at rookie max.

- Mattias Karlsson returned to Sweden early last season. Did he return?

Ok, a few clarifications and thanks to all who have clarified somethings. With over 500 offers, obviously there is not time to cross reference every age, prospect list and detail, so the vetting done by our GM's is critical. Thanks to all.

That said, I warn GM's about ensuring they do enough research to ensure the player is both eligible and not already on a prospect list. Some flexibility is given on this based on some complex spelling that get's missed (including yours truly), but please ensure you check our site and the details on signing rules before issuing an offer, because it wastes a lot other people's time.

- Clitsome best offer was a typo - it's been fixed.

- Duco did sign with San Jose - not sure why I missed him on the posted list

- For the signing of Europeans who sign with KHL AFTER you have submitted your offer, they move to your prospect list. I had never heard we had the option of dropping them immediately, so perhaps someone more familiar on the league admin can clarify whether this is true.

- The Hendry signing will be adjusted to 1 year. No other team was within 20% on the base salary offer.

- There will not be an updated free agency list available until after round 2 (those left). The original list is still there for reference.

- Phoenix has been added to the Zigomanis sweepstakes. The offer was originally not considered a bona fide offer given Mike was 16th on the priority list, but after review, given Phoenix has missed out on nearly everyone above on that list, they are back in.

- And M Karlsson is back with the Sens prospects - he attended the development camp and will play in North America according to him

:m-shocked:

Wow, Detroit handing out a risk, big, long-term deal? This is a very un-Drew like move.

Of note, several of Anaheim's offer were missed, so some of the results will change, albeit not dramatically.

Off the top though, there was a second offer for Brylin which would have created a 2nd round of bidding, which of course is now cancelled given Brylin signed in the KHL. Brylin will be removed.

Anaheim's missed offers have been considered, and the Ducks have been added to the second round of bidding for Adams, Metropolit and Grier, and they have also signed three free agents (Mike Brennan, Sergei Kolosau and Kevin Regan).

I am pretty sure I offered Hendry the max entry level deal, at top priority.

I thought he wuold be eligible becasue he signed a north american contract and already completed one year in the AHL?
