Finland, USA and Canada are the big favorites. I rank Czechia 1 tier below them but they have a good chance too. I dunno about Swedens chances, i think we lose in the quarterfinals. Not as great squad we have had the previous years but the talent is there.

I don't see us ( Finland ) being gold medal favorites in U18 WJC's either.
In Ivan Hlinka tournament our goaltending and defence was a meltdown cheese
goalies Rimpinen and Saarinen couldn't catch nothing, coaching was what it was and so on.

If all goes perftectly well Finland might advance to semifinals but even
it is a question right now because we don't even know
which our top 2006 born players are available.

Kiviharju is injured and he should be back somewhere late January / mid February.
And we don't know how his recovery of surgery required knee injury has went so far.

Also there's chance HIFK will not let Kiviharju go to U18 WJC's if they need him SM liiga playoffs.
Right now even Mikkelin Jukurit where Konsta Helenius plays is going to SM liiga playoffs so also
Helenius's participation to U18 WJC's is depend on that how far Jukurit advances to liiga playoffs.

TPS is competing SM liiga playoff qualification round spot
so at least Emil Hemming should be available but TPS is one of top teams in U20 SM sarja
but it is possible TPS loan Hemming to U20 SM sarja playoffs if / when they won't make SM liiga playoffs.

If i should be rank TOP4 teams in 2024 U18 WJC's it might be something like this.
1 USA
2 Canada
3 Sweden
4 Finland.

I know Sweden's 2006 age group is not elite and it is ''mediocre'' based on NHL draft talent in 2024
but Sweden has been better than Finland last 3 ( 2021, 2022, 2023 ) U18 WJC's
so i see Sweden having some chances to win a medal but which color.

Of course in theory i hope Finland does in these U18 WJC's same what they did 2016 U20 WJC's
and wins whole tournament but i'm not sure how likely it is and will it happen or not.

Last time ( 2014 ) when Finland hosted U18 WJC's you ( Sweden ) embarrassed us ( Finland )
0-10 in U18 WJC quarterfinal so i hope that same won't happen this time.

if Helenius, Hemming and Kiviharju Will be aviable, its look good for you. Usa and Canada are there like always making it harder but Finlands team are good enough to win over them. The coaching can be solved.

Im mostly looking forward to see how our top 07’s will do

Finnish U20 season is over when the tournament starts.

somewhere around nothing
Just bought my tickets, both semifinals and bronze & gold medal games. Cheap as soap, 89 euros. Men's world set me back 380 euros, bronze and gold medal games in 2022. U20 gold and bronze medal game ticked in 2016 costed 52 euros.

Enjoy! I will be there only for one game - Norway vs Finland. Better than nothing! Cheap tickets indeed!

Gold: USA
Silver: Sweden
Bronze: Canada or Czech Republic.
Outsiders: Finland and Slovakia.

Forward: Wozniak, Benak (MVP) or Hagens.
Outsiders: Iginla, Helenius, Hemming, McKenna, Eiserman, Massé, Murnieks, Zetterberg.

Goalie: Härenstam.
Outsiders: Milota, Saarinen or Rimpinen.

Defender: Galvas or Hutson.
Outsiders: Freij, Sahlin Wallenius, Radovijevic, Muggli, Mrtka, Svec, perhaps Kiviharju if in shape but I doubt it. Been injured too long this season.

People are sleeping on Czech Republic. More than capable roster this year as well. Benak being the star with Novotny, Kos, Galvas and others that can surprise neutral fans a lot.
They seem to have bounced back pretty well when it comes to talent production lately being on pair or even better than Finland right now.
