Obviously really early, an this next year is going to be big for development and establishing early talents, but Nord and maybe Småland have groups of players I have already seen. Hard to say at this point. From all I've seen the "Väst" region is not doing to great in terms of homegrown prospects, so probably won't compete. Terrible coaching really cost Gästrikland last year when they had a chance, and this year is going to be tough for them. Thed Jobs is talented though.

Interested to see how many 08s will stand out this year at the national stage. From the little I have gathered(way less into this than the earlier age groups, I don't really see the same standouts I did with the 07s.

Småland is looking like favorites maybe. Hard to compare 07s with 08s yet at this early stage. But I don´t think It´s that big difference. I think 07s was really hyped maybe because plenty of the 06s teams wasn´t good. But the list of good 08s players is there and remember how 07s looked the year before.

Wonder if not Småland could actually win it this year. Their forward crop is really something else.
Ångermanland's offense is not too shabby either.

Stockholm Syd is already out. Ångermanland just barely advanced after Västerbotten blew a last minute lead against Norrbotten.

Some good forwards this year I think. Hermansson is the most talented one I’ve seen but Alfons Öberg was also a big standout for me. Stockholm Nord is loaded with talent, they are huge favorites to win imo.

I have watched Ångermanland mostly and Hermansson is the best one on that team imo. Tjällden and A Öberg not far behind.. I like Hermanssons puckhandling and shot especially
I like him as well, although I thought he was a bit too reliant on his hands. Would like to see him compete a bit harder, then I think he could be an even bigger force. That’s what I like about A.Öberg, he engages well in play and is skilled enough.

I’m also a bit weak for Josbrant and Bartholdsson.

Viggo Björck was by far (well, kind of) the best player I saw this weekend. Just exceptional skills and hockey sense. With his smaller frame, reminds a lot of Filip Ekberg. IMO on a different level than the rest of the forwards.

Otherwise, not a whole lot of players stood out. Elton Hermansson's offensive skills are really something. Kid's work-ethic though... I am not too convinced about. He doesn't want to play in his own end, it appears :)

Did not get a good read on Leo Tjälldén. I mean, strong body and good shot and scored some goals, but... yeah, did not stood out for me like Elton did with his slick technical skills, shot and creativeness. Thinks Alfons Öberg stood out more than Tjälldén, driving the play.

Småland looked kind of decent as a team I guess, but expected more from their hyped players (and they did have some problems scoring). They do have arguable the best defenseman of the tourney in Ola Palme, though.

Liked Ångermanland's defenseman John Hägglöf. Kid was a man among boys physically and liked to play the body. Lacked speed though.

Does anyone know what rules or definitions there are about which districts are in the tournament? It seems a bit odd that for example Gotland participates when Halland (who could've had like 5 of Skånes top players on their roster) doesn't. At least they could have been split with Skåne like for example Bohuslän/Dal?

Any input on Oscar Holmertz and Bosse Meijer? They had both good stats and some hype before the tournament.
Saw one game with Östergötland/Holmertz. Looks like a gifted player with a nose for the net. Nice release and puck control. Heard some folks describe him as being the top "sniper" born -08 in SWE, so yeah someone worthy of monitoring closely I guess.

Oscar Holmertz is the main take-away after the first two games. Really stood out.

Småland vs. Västergötland is a very interesting game coming up soon.
Two of the top d vs each other in Ola Palme vs Axel Elofsson.
... and then Wiggo Sörensson vs. Bosse Meijer up front.

EDIT: Småland looked strong. Some really good defensive depth
