TSN: No Brule at WJC

Apparently, Hockey Canada is now completely inflexible on this kind of thing: if a player skips the summer camp, he is not eligible for the tourney.

If you are injuired in the summer then you just have to show up and be there in person.

This is a great rule. It's called chemistry. The disaster of 92 started the blue print for this and is now strickly followed since 02. Coincidently, check out their record since.

Brule said he didn't care or wanted to participate in the summer and he doesn't want to be on the team then why would they invite him? Disaster written all over it. Canada has too much depth to not be picky.

It only applies if the player is invited and turns it down. If they aren't invited, and tear up their league before Christmas, they are still eligible to play on the team.

to bad. would have been great to watch him in the wjc. i just found out that they are broadcasting the wjc here in norway. what a way to spend christmas!!! and i won't have to stay up to 4.00 am either.

That's true, ever since Stephen Weiss begged his way onto the team. However, lots of people on this board speculate about Brule getting an invite, so I started this thread to try to dispell those theories.

Is anyone surprised? Columbus hasn't allowed an active player to play in the WJC before, so even if Brule attended the summer camp, he wouldn't be released for the WJC.

i think it would be a good idea to let him play. it would give him lots of playing time and he would probably put up a lot of points. and its just for a short period of time and its not like columbus needs him right now.
