My ex wife would be in total agreement with Tree.

When she used to say she was not getting enough I used to take that as meaning not enough times per week.

Not sure how his personal preferences are relevant to hockey in anyway, but no judgement if that's what he likes.

EDIT: Ooooooooh, he means big/tall defensemen... got it.

Innuendoes aside, does he really follow what he preaches? Since starting as Calgary GM in 2014-2015, these are the heights of his 6 most played defensemen:
2014-2015: 6'0", 6'1", 6'1", 5'10", 6'2", 5'11"
2015-2016: 6'0", 6'1", 6'1", 5'10", 6'2", 6'6"
2016-2017: 6'2", 6'1", 6'1", 6'3", 6'1", 6'6"
2017-2018: 6'2", 6'1", 6'1", 6'3", 6'1", 6'6"
2018-2019: 6'2", 6'1", 6'1", 6'0", 6'0", 6'3"
2019-2020: 6'2", 6'1", 6'2", 6'0", 5'11", 6'3"
2020-2021: 6'2", 6'1", 6'1", 6'0", 6'0", 6'3"
2021-2022: 6'2", 6'6", 6'3", 6'0", 6'0", 6'5"
2022-2023: 6'2", 6'6", 6'3", 6'0", 6'0", 6'3"

For liking large defensemen, there are a lot of average-sized defensemen or below. Obviously you can ignore the first year he was there because he wouldn't build his defense in one year, but the only times I would say he has had a "big defense" was 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 and then again in 2021-2022. He usually only has one truly "large" guy (Zadorov, Hamilton, Gudbranson) and then a bunch of guys in the 6'1"-6'3" range... And dabbles more in the 5'11"-6'0" guys than the 6'4"+ behemoths outside of that average range.

He has drafted some larger defense in his time, but none of them have amounted to anything close to the NHL. I would not be surprised if 6'4" Noah Chadwick ends up being the same unfortunately. The only guys who have turned into anything for them have been 6'0" Rasmus Andersson and 6'0" Oliver Kylington.

The Leafs' supposedly small defense was 6'4", 6'1", 6'1", 6'0", 6'1", 5'11" (and that was before adding 6'2" McCabe and 6'2" Schenn while trading 5'11" Sandin) and that was the smallest defense the Leafs have really had since they've been good. And he has inherited much of that defense with the only move he's made was replacing the 6'4" guy (Holl) with a 6'1" guy who plays even smaller than that. I mean we are on track for by far the smallest defense the Leafs have really ever had.

Some analysts believe that they are going to trade Nylander for some "D", but these are speculations with the current contract (negotiations) situation
