Netherlands: Traveling to Amsterdam for a day

Hello,

My cousin and I will be taking a day off in the summer to travel to Amsterdam. A Thursday in July in fact. I hear hockey is pretty big in Holland, and Amsterdam included.

Any news on things to see or do or buy when in Amsterdam in reference to hockey?
Would love to play a game of puck there but wont have any equipments. Any one rents? lol

Actually I did some research and there are two differ ice hockey rinks/teams that play. They even hold $20 open hockey on Thursdays.

Its bigger than you think.

Yes Field hockey is very popular.

I was wondering if anyone knew any more info
