The Calgary Flames announced today that they have assigned seven players to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Stockton Heat: Austin Carroll (RW), Josh Healey (LD), Oliver Kylington (LD), Andrew Mangiapane (LW), Adam Ollas Mattsson (LD), Tyler Parsons (G) and Colby Robak (LD).

The New York Islanders have reduced their training camp roster to 31 players.

The following players have been loaned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League: Sebastian Aho, Kyle Burroughs, Michael Dal Colle, Tanner Fritz, Ross Johnston, Kane LaFranchise, Eamon McAdam, Kyle Schempp, John Stevens, Devon Toews, Mitchell Vande Sompel and Parker Wotherspoon

Six other players were released from their professional tryout contracts: Casey Bailey, Scott Eansor, Jeff Kubiak, Ben Holmstrom, Travis St. Denis and Yannick Turcotte

The Islanders also placed the following players on waviers: Christopher Gibson, Kristers Gudlevskis, Seth Helgeson and Connor Jones.

So, is Gregory Hoffmann technically still property of the Hurricanes? Is he one of those RFA's who become UFA's at 27, or was he ever signed by Carolina? Trying to understand why he is still their property.

He logged a lot of ice time tonight in a losing effort for the Americans and seemed to be in the middle of a lot of scrums at the end of a play but that may be because he is plays defense and was on the ice a lot.

Ducks cuts

Nic Kerdiles was back on the ice after being sidelined for a few days due to a groin injury. It did hamper the winger’s chances to make the team as he was one of 12 assigned to the Ducks’ AHL team in San Diego. The winger will have to clear waivers first.

Others headed to the Gulls are forwards Stu Bickel, Alex Dostie, Julius Nattinen, Austin Ortega, Kevin Roy, Zach Saar, Deven Sideroff and Tyler Soy, defensemen Jeff Schultz and Keaton Thompson and goalie Angus Redmond.

As forwards Maxime Comtois and Antoine Morand were returned to their junior teams, so were defensemen Turner Ottenbreit and Brady Lyle as well as right wing Kyle Olson. Goalie Olle Eriksson-Ek returned to his team in Sweden.
