That line up gets us to the same place we've been for the last 3 years. Dependent on Price to win 2-1 games all season.
Not saying I like it, just my prediction.

Sign Ladd 5 yr 6M
trade for Nichushkin (Emelin+Andreghetto+2016 MTL 2nd)
trade DD to anyone for a mid level pick
Draft (in order of BPA...IMHO) Dubois/Chychrun/Tkachuck/McLeod (none would likely be NHL ready for at least 1-2 yrs)
Pacioretty - Chucky - Gallagher
Ladd - Pleks - Nichushkin
Hudon - Eller - Carr
Matteau - Daneault - Mitchell
Markov-Subban
Beaulieu - Petry
Barberio - Pateryn
Most of us seem to be on a similar page.
Sign 1 UFA and trade for 1 'bargain' player ie: Nuke/Yak who is currently valued lower than his potential.
Okposo would interest me as well if we can trade for a LW. I don't think it's feasible (or smart financially) to sign two top UFAs
I pick Ladd as he is likely the exact player MB would chase before Okposo....I just see Okposo looking for 7M. it's a guess, but we'll see. Yak is a bargain no doubt, but Nich fits more MB's style of player type.
It's really simple really. Scoring is an obvious deficinecy, adress that. signing a UFA without hurting the cap flexibility isn't hard. and, you have tradeable bottom 6 assets with potential to use for upgrading.
I see a very busy draft week ahead
Bergevin clearly states that top UFAs are too expensive. Very much doubt he signs a top flight forward. Unfortunately, expect more tinkering on the bottom 6 according to what he said.
That being said, guys like Eller and Guetto will be trade bait for bottom 6 wingers.
We need a RW Badly...Eriksson and Okposo are my choices!
Scenario one:
2016 first round pick + DLR + MIN 2nd round pick
for
Drouin + Koekkek
Emelin for a mid pick
Buy-out DD
Sign Eriksson to 3 years @ 18M
Drouin - Galchenyuk - Gallagher
Pacioretty - Plekanec - Eriksson (two-way line)
Carr - Eller - Andrighetto
Byron - Danault - Mitchell
Flynn - Lessio
Markov - Subban
Beaulieu - Petry
Koekkek - Pateryn
Barberio
Price
Condon
Scenario #2
Emelin for Yakupov
2016 first round pick + DLR + Fucale for JVR + Hunwick
Pacioretty - Galchenyuk - Gallagher
JVR - Plekanec - Yakupov
Carr - Eller - Andrighetto
Byron - Danault - Mitchell
Lessio - Flynn
Markov - Subban
Beaulieu - Petry
Hunwick - Pateryn
Barberio
Price
Condon
That would be great. In the likely event we don't land one of the top FA's, Stempniak would be a solid signing. He's a guy we could probably count on for about 20g/20a and he'd be relatively cheap and short term. He wouldn't be the solution to our offensive problems, but I think he could be a smart addition in combination with another move.
Some people want Nail Yakupov, but i would never trade for a player like Yakupov...
I'm rather have a 2nd round pick than Yakupov.
I wouldn't put any stock into what was said at the press conference. They shouldn't even hold one, since there's no way they are going to be 100% honest when all that would be is weaken their position with other GM's. That doesn't mean they will do anything this summer, as I have no idea what their plan is. I know they don't have much cap space so in order to add anything big then some guys have to go. If they do nothing then I would expect a short playoff run as this team clearly needs more talent.
if Matt Martin hits free agency, i bet MB makes him a considerable offer... repeat of the Prust signing in his first year as GM (which, imo, was probably his best move).
would be a nice addition, but we'd have to do something about the glut of 4th line players.
