Because as a base you can build something bigger
Add Dvorak Lucic and Pelletier

As for Monahan, I beleive that next year he could fetch something at the trade deadline, so for the time he would be with us, I dont beleive that it would hurt

Trade Dvorak to another team and use Monahan is a possibility

Maybe sometime like that might develop. We’ll see I guess

Me neither but it’s Gortons MO to get a top 2 center and PMD. Even if we draft Wright or Savoie I could still see him getting a center. Can’t have enough depth at center and they can always play the wings.
Yes and don't get me wrong I think we'll be very happy with him as a player it'll just be for a price that'll be hard to look at when he's only a 50-60 point player after a year or two

Don’t know but we can clear up a lot of cap by trading redundant players with ones we need. Drouin, Toffoli, Hoffman, Lehkonen, Armia, Dvorak, Gally all can be moved up front and replaced with players who bring more of what we need. Size, skill and speed.

Where did you hear this ?
Artturi Lehkonen has been all over the trade-targets lists for a bit, and sources told The Athletic that Drury and his former boss, Canadiens hockey operations chief Jeff Gorton, have been in contact regarding Lehkonen, who is a pending restricted free agent with arbitration rights and is due a $2.3 million qualifying offer. The talks are believed to have been preliminary.

Lehkonen is the sort of upgrade the Rangers would want not just for now but for the long haul. Sammy Blais filled this role before his torn ACL in November; Lehkonen will come in with a bigger RFA price tag beyond this season, but he does more and is better at it than Blais, having been a consistent 10-plus goal scorer his first four seasons before the shortened 2020-21 and ugly numbers this season for the bottom-dwelling Canadiens. He’s a third-liner and penalty-kill guy who contributes on offense and doesn’t kill you defensively. His 58.5 percent xG share is far and away the best on Montreal this season, so he must be doing something right amid all the wrong happening up there.

He won’t be cheap because he isn’t a rental. But Lehkonen gives the Rangers more options and a better third line even without other changes.

With Rangers overpaying for Sammy Blais this summer, we might be able to get some good assets from them for Lekhonen.

All of this is exactly why Lek should NOT be moved short of a big overpayment or as a piece that allows for some bad vet contract we have to get moved without retention.

He's a piece that, along with Evans, should be a part of our rebuild... his work ethic, buy-in to play his role, and small but still present & untapped offensive ceiling, all fit perfectly well for a rebuilding team.

Hope Gorton doesn't move him for a 2nd round pick or less type return

Only if we get something good in return, like Schneider or Kravstov!

I think we all like Lekky, but man, poor guy can't score in a soccer net most nights.....he never became a great two way player we all thought he would be, he is a defensive specialist, that's it......if they can get a young asset with some serious potential, then do it....

I agree. If you are planning a rebuild then at his age (not old but wont be around when you start to be competitive), contract, and what he actually brings, if the deal is right, you go for it. (Prospect with top 6 potential, 1st rounder as i dont think a 2nd is worth it)

Its all bout the return and if im honest some of the luster has worn off for me. The last few years, the never ending motor he displayed when he first came over has somewhat disappeared.

They won't be the only team calling for him.
LA and Colorado can use a player like him. I think he's gonna end up being moved because there will be a small bidding war for him which should give us a nice return.

Doubt any team gives a 1st rounder for him. He would most likely net a 2nd.

I never really watched Kravtsov play. So I can't analyze his game. But his production doesn't really match the hype ge gets.

What is it about him that his name is nearly always brought up in trade proposals with the Rangers?

He didn't want to report to the Rangers AHL team and went back to Russia to play in the KHL. He only wants to play in the NHL. Guessing the money is better in the KHL then AHL.

Keep Lehks for another year if nobody offers more than a 2nd (would be a late 2nd too). We need some vets to show the way and take the pressure off the kids. Lehks is a good low maintenance player with versatility.

No idea but similar to Leks who is still an RFA. Similar production

Look at David Savard as well. Its not someone id ever give a first for but it happens
I'm pretty sure that's the case which is why it happened, they wouldn't have done the same for Lehkonen as he has 1 year left making over double the salary.

Big RHD are more coveted than defense first bottom 6 players. I would look at Janmark as a comparison instead.

I know he didn't want to report to Hartford and preferred to go back to KHL.

I'm only asking what is it about him that makes people want him in trade proposals.

I've never seen him play. So I'm genuinely curious.
