With Timmy L, Sandin already there and Durzi, Hollowell and Gordeev coming next year, getting out of the last year of Nielsen's contract was a good thing

Was never impressed with the Nielsen pick from the start, his skating was never at an NHL level and his production a product of his environment in the WHL on a high scoring junior team. His shot was really the only thing that might have been NHL level.

When Nielsen returned the Leafs rookie tournament for the 3rd time after 2 years in the AHL already, you knew this was a declining asset on this way down and out.

Marlies need a starting goalie and more Center Depth

Center depth is fine once Cracknell comes back. Greening needs to turn things around also but worst case is he doesn't and there is a long list of quality Growlers itching for a chance to get a chance with the Marlies, and have been playing well enough to get one.

Good add to the Marlies forward depth. Perhaps a future 4th liner if it all works out. He's been a good scorer at the AHL level as a 21-22yr old.

His skating wasn't even at an AHL level, at least for how the Marlies / Leafs play.
