Now that all DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) teams are out of the tournament, does anybody feel ready to create a top team for players out of these countries? I'd guess team would feature Stützle, Peterka, Knak, Meier, Rossi, Wraneschitz, etc.

It may be interesting to include players that were out of the tournament because of COVID just to compare with "what-if" version.

Germany
Austrian Goalie, German first line. Rossi, Knak.

From Germany possibly Dube, the rest seems quite interchangeable

This is fun – but no guarantees that it's accurate. I feel confident that the Germans and top prospects are fine but no idea about the Swiss and Austrian players who aren't active in North America. Some might deserve to play over the Germans, especially on D.

Stützle - Rossi - Peterka
Reichel - Elias - Knak
Biasca - Canonica - Fust
Dube - Kasper - Peeters
Alberg, Allenspach
(6 GER, 5 SUI, 3 AUT)

Meier - Seider
Gnyp - Glötzl
Baragano - Zimmermann
Münzenberger, Lindner
(5 GER, 2 SUI, 1 AUT)

Fatton
Wraneschitz
Ancicka
(1 AUT, 1 GER, 1 SUI)

That team might be around Finland level. Still not as good as the top few teams at this tournament though.

The defence would be a problem area even with Seider. But the star power is pretty great. There was a case to be made to pick Rossi ahead of Stützle - he’s that good. A Stützle-Rossi-Peterka line would be absolutely insane at the world juniors. It still might not be quite as good as the CAN and USA top lines with older players who were drafted equally high.

Players play for their countries, not for some hyrid teams that make them better.
The West Indies cricket team was formed because Caribbean countries realized that a regional team would be more competitive than individual national teams.

Tonga, Fiji and Samoa have also toyed with creating a Pacific Islanders rugby team.

Kitchener region was very influenced by Germans. The city was even called Berlin. Anyway dont think many there speak German anymore. Same with Pennsylvania Dutch.

If Tonga, Fiji and Samoa ever decide to get together to make a hockey team... look out!

Top team of German-speaking region: the Minnesota Wild?

Estimated population by state according to the 2018 American Community Survey

Pennsylvania has the biggest group of German Americans. The Pens or Flyers would be the top team.
Sadly i have no idea if this is the region with the most German-speaking people.

How does it work that the team would be "around Finland level" and yet not as good as the "top few teams"? Finland is playing in the semifinals tonight as you may have noticed.

This is a ballpark discussion of how the roster stacks up, not what place this hypothetical team that'll never play a game finishes in.

I believe all of those countries are more or less the same in context of economic situation, hockey quality and geography so it would be nice to compare players from those countries.

You can call it power-ranking players from DACH countries and achieve the same result. Creating an imaginary team is just a fun way to put it.
