9-Tieksola

2. Drury
3. Suzuki
4. Morrow
5. Ponomarev
6. Rees
7. Keane
8. Honka
9. Sellgren
10. Bokk
11. Gunler
12. Tieksola
13. Nikishin
14. Killinen
15. Koivunen
16. Cotton
17. Seeley
18. Heimosalmi
19. Guslistov
20. Montgomery

I probably overrate Pono but I think he could make a solid jump in production with some stability on the ice with role and coaching staff.

My biggest risers this season: Morrow (saying a lot as he is already 4th), Killinen (could push for serious 2nd line consideration if he can stay healthy), Bokk (if the guy can find a 60 minute game), Montgomery (who I believe could jump the rest all RS defenders not name Morrow if his offense develops) and Guslistov (he could really grab some attention early with his KHL play). Pashin could sneak up the boards if he get his KHL shot this season.

Biggest chance of falling: Bokk (if hes doesnt find a consistent game his prospect shine will start to fall), Keane (his shine will start to fade if he doesnt get some NHL ice time), Gunler (can he put together a strong season in Sweden), and Rees (can we get a full season without disciplinary distractions?).

It's certainly a very far cry from when our scouting team would draft no Russians at all during the Rutherford and Francis era. Yorke and his scouts are definitely putting their time into the KHL/VHL/MHL now.

"And with the 15th pick of the 1st round of the 2001 entry draft, the Carolina Hurricanes select Igo Knyazev".....That was enough for Jim Rutherford to hold a nation-based grudge for the rest of his tenure.

For Reference - Corey Pronman of the Athletic released his NHL Pipe Line Rankings. 22 yo or younger as of 9/15/21. Canes are at #3.

NHL Pipeline Rankings: No. 3 Carolina Hurricanes carried by more than Andrei Svechnikov

"Carolina had a lot of draft picks the past three years, 35 to be precise. The system’s high ranking is primarily due to Andrei Svechnikov being one of the premier young forwards in the game and Martin Necas emerging into a core player. Behind those two, though, is a very long list of players who project to play in the NHL or have a decent chance to play games. You can nitpick the system, there is no premier young defenseman yet, and the goalie depth is just OK, but there is a long list of skaters you can envision playing in the NHL."
  1. Svech
  2. Necas
  3. Jarvis
  4. Bokk
  5. Suzuki
  6. Rees
  7. Gunler
  8. Robidas

When your HM list has that much quality AND quantity, that's pretty solid!

I don’t even know enough about our own prospects, even less so for other teams. Our HM is made up of 1 second rounder and, a number of 3rd/4th rounders, a couple 7th rounders and an undrafted guy. Is that much different than other teams? Or because of the sheer number of picks the canes have had in recent years, there are more “darts”/depth?

I always find this hard to do. Do you rank them by current skill, projectable skill, likelihood of making the NHL, projected impact if they make the NHL, perceived trade value, etc.? Anyways, here's my shot at it:
  1. Jarvis
  2. Drury
  3. Suzuki
  4. Ponomarov
  5. Rees
  6. Morrow
  7. Koivunen
  8. Bokk
  9. Gunler
  10. Keane
  11. Tieksola
  12. Sellgren
  13. Heimosalmi
  14. Nikishin
  15. Guslistov

  1. Kochetkov
  2. Makiniemi
  3. Lafontaine
  4. Hamrla
  5. Warm

After the prospect showcase, he wasn’t going to get much playing time. With Rod saying the NHL starters will get all 4 games, I would be surprised if most of the goalies aren’t cut during the next round.

Goalies are
Kochetkov, Makiniemi, Quapp, Warm

Skaters
Jarvis, Drury, Morrow, Suzuki, Seeley, Nishikin, Rees, Koivunen, Pono, Honka, Bokk, Sellgren, Wall, Keane, Jackson Blake, Rizzo, Robidas (then carry the list however you wish)

Morrow, Seeley, Nishikin are risers
newcomers Jackson Blake and Robidas
Bokk, Tieksola, and Gunler are fallers. Bokk is recovering some now.

edit: Robidas and Koivunen are probably underrated on this list but these group is so deep.

Yeah, from all I've seen, heard and read, he should be in the riser group as well. I know everyone likes the big hits by Nishikin, but Koivunen has a lot of skills, work ethic, and intelligence that "seems" like they'd translate well to the NHL.
