I keep being told Graves is a bottom pairing dman. We don’t need another bottom pairing dman. We need our own Toews/Girard (a player you would rightfully not trade).

Bottom pairing due to LHD depth

Toews
Girard
Byram
Graves

Few teams have this level of depth. Girard plays RD & Byram injured. Graves is playing 2nd line with the injuries.

Gio has really taken a step back in the games I’ve recently seen but maybe he looks better on Montreal. He’d be a good #4 option. I wouldn’t imagine the cost being too high

No chance.

Murray is the best LHD on the market if Ekholm is no longer available. Devils arent giving him away for a 3rd.

As for requesting Ty Smith - GTFO.
What has Murray done this year to go from being worth a 5th to a grade A prospect except not getting injured as much as usual? Retention buys you a couple of rounds. There are better LHD options on the market.

Murray is a proven top 4 defenseman. Knock on him wasn't his defensive play but injury issues. Columbus let him go for cap reasons, quite clearly it wasnt an indication of his true value.

This season Murray has been healthy and you would get him at a 50% cap hit. He also has been playing very well lately. 6 points in his last 3 games. And factoring all of the above plus the lack of available quality defenseman on the market is the reasons why he is going to be a valuable commodity at trade deadline.

So his 6 pts in 3 games brings his season total to 7. So 1 pt in the other 24 GP. If you can sell high on someone who’s only watched the last week go for it. Is he even playing Top 4 for the Devils?

100% there’s literally one other team that has comparable LD depth and they won the cup last year. Graves is top-4 on 50% of teams imo. Not an Ekholm but much cheaper and because of that probably comparable if not better bang for your buck

Hi there, the Habs are looking for a top 2-3 LD to better their roster in time for the playoffs. It could be an expiring UFA-to-be, an older player. As long as they are good enough as a 2-3 D that plays on left side.

The Habs have the following available (alphabetical order; obviously all with different values - so be mindful when making your proposal):

Better prospects:
Brook
Fleury
Guhle
Harris
Mysak
Norlinder
Poehling
Struble
1st 2021, 2nds, other roster picks
and more... (only Caufield is a no-no)

Roster players:
Armia
Chiarot
Danault
Drouin (though I’m very reluctant since he’s been having a quietly solid year)
Edmundson
Lehkonen
Mete
Tatar
(We would listen on other roster players, with the sole exceptions being Kotkaniemi, Romanov and Suzuki who are off the table barring a massive overpayment)

For cap purposes (if needed):
Byron
Kulak

Here are some examples of some players we were looking at:
- Vince Dunn (not sure if he fits the bill though)
- Mattias Ekholm
- OEL
- Cam Fowler
- Mark Giordano (is he still a top 2-3?)
- Erik Gustafsson (not sure if he fits the bill though)
- Noah Hanifin
- Nick Leddy (is he still a top 2-3? Has he rebounded?)
- Brady Skjei (not sure if he fits the bill though)
and more..!

We just don’t want or need a graves type of defenseman.

the stuff in bold is a complete and abject lie, a scoring winger with 2 goals and a ton of secondary assits who is abysmal defensively and soft on the boards, does not a solid season make.
he is in jeff skinner territory.

jonathan drouin is a bum
