Vanek ahead of Boedker is a shocker
Boedker is overrated IMO.
Here is a good explanation why.

Agreed. Vanek is too streaky to be getting 6.5M per year (would have been 7.5M this year in actual salary), but he can score and isn't a massive liability on the back-end. Boedker is a good scorer, but a huge liability at the back. I'd also say that Vanek is a better natural goal scorer. He's got great shot compared to Boedker, who mainly relies on his speed.
Both are ~50pt guys, but you're more likely to get scored on with Boedker on the ice i.e. I'd prefer Vanek if they're contracts come out the same.
You clearly haven't watched Vanek the past season.

What about Shipachyov? I'd probably rank him ahead of both Vanek and Staal, tbh.

Is he a free agent, is he not... no one is quite sure.
Elliotte Friedmann is reporting he "MAY" be back in play.
I know there is also a tweet from an unreliable and unconfirmed source saying his contract is terminated as of June 30th. However, as we have personal experience with that tweeter, we do not consider him an insider, or a reliable source of information. We'll stick to a list of proven sources on this, and no one is quite sure if he is or isnt available.
Understood. But if he's available as of December, that's only a few months after Jimmy Vesey becomes available.
Just saying.
Boedker is a hell of a lot better than Tanguay, who really took a step back this year. He was a borderline liability most nights. Perfect example of why stats don't mean everything. Maybe Tanguay really works his ass off this off-season, but the dude is pretty much more than likely done.
The big loss for the Avs was Wood and the 2nd round pick that Bleackley turned into. That's just too much to give up for a rental to a playoff bubble team.
I think you missed the point, which is that Boedkker is a liability 5 on 5, and got the vast vast majority of his points on the pp. Those PP points weren't really remarkable, because the fact is that the Coyotes would leave him on the ice for nearly 2 minutes every powerplay. His p/60 PP doesn't show him as even a PP specialist, but a decent PP guy who got some of the biggest PP minutes in the league.
Basically yes, Boedkker can produce but the team that signs him must.
1) give him a crap load of PP time.
2) Shelter him massively at ES.
And i guess thats ok, but its not ideal, and thus he's lower on the list because of it.
not top 10.
