I would probably agree to a trade for Toews if the price is relatively cheap. Unless we sign Tavares, I don't see how Bergevin can better spend his money.

makes perfect sense to trade for a guy that looks to be falling off a cliff and has a HUGE contract....I think they've learned (at least I hope so) from the Subban trade.

You underestimate Bergevin's power.

Fun fact: When Bergevin was first hired by the Habs, he mentioned two players as being the best in the league at the defense and center ice position.

One player was Shea Weber... and the other was Jonathon Toews.

Make no mistake, if there is one GM in the league that would acquire, let alone overpay for Toews, it would be Marc Bergevin.

I mean, if they retain 4-5M and/or take price full salary for toews... I would do it. He's still Toews even if he fell off a little... C'mon people, it's def not the full salary of Toews.
