he has room to improve for sure but so does everyone brodie and mccabe i dont like together a smart move would have been to move brodie cause he should be 7th d and hes too expensive to play that role

There is not 6 better defensemen on this team. Certainly aren’t 3 that are better on the right side. If he gets scratched in the playoffs Keefe is beyond help.
It's crazy to think that ppl wouldn't agree with a factual and obvious statement

I've been generally satisfied with regular season Liljegren but he was absolutely godawful in the playoffs. Worst Leafs defender by a mile. Edmundson was also bad but not nearly as much and did okay away from Liljegren; they were just a disaster together. They got the easiest third pair minutes and couldn't handle them at all. There were numerous instances in game 7 where Liljegren got walked around or through by freaking JVR. Curiously most of them came with Liljegren on the left side, which is particularly baffling considering the shortage of RHD on the team.

Move on from this guy already, he's simply doesn't have any hockey IQ under pressure. Mindless panic passes, ZERO poise and his idea of board win is a draw. It amazes me how weak he is, last night old man JVR made him his beotch the entire night, it was embarrassing. Edmundson bails him out every game, he simply isn't good enough and his inability to process a play and slow it down was an accident waiting to happen. A puck mover who can't move a puck. We didn't really have a better 6 option, but we better find one. This guy ain't it.

He is the most likely Leaf to be gone this offseason.

I Tribute this to his healthy scratches throughout his career in the playoffs. Also injuries, not doing any one thing good. I wish him well in Finland.

They'd be a fool to trade him at this point atleast build his value up

This guy just doesn’t have any balls

He gets injured by Marchand, he gets sat on his ass 3 times in a shift by Coyle, and yet he still plays soft and scared. He should go play on Utah or Chicago, where he will put up 35 points being a -40

He played mediocre defence, and provided less offence than Justin holl. everytime he could’ve closed out a guy on the wall or give them a hit when they weren’t looking and he chose to not do it

Time to move on, he is what he is at this point. Get a pick and call it a day.

Lol I remember getting destroyed in this thread. But ultimately Liljegren is what I’ve always thought he is. Bottom six guy who can jump up into the top 4 if needed. But the lack of physicality or lack of ability to handle physicality makes him ineffective.

He's not smart enough to play top 4 on a contender and he's too soft to play on the bottom pair.

I still would rielly got 7.5 past his prime he played better in riellys position then rielly himself

No he didn’t. Liljegren has been awful all season. The best time to trade him was last year when he played really well for that 3 month stretch before the playoffs. His value will never be higher
