If memory serves me right, THN does their top-50 list only for the Future Watch issue. I don't think you'll see a new one until early in the new year.

Yes that's what I thought, but that list is from February 04, so there should still be one from 05 right?

5 Preds in the top 50 for THN, 2 at HF

Granted, its subjective AND after a larger sample size, but THN are usually pretty good at making out lists.

The difference seems to be that THN didn't forget about the guys drafted 2 or 3 years ago like the HF list did.

THN is obvioulsy not considering newly drafte players. Only players with a track record in Junior or in the pros

No, they aren't.

And to the people here who are trying to discard HF's NEW top 50 based on some crap written a year and a half ago, that has to be one of the most pathetic attempt at bumping your favorite team's players ever.

And that says a lot.

This list was from half a year ago, not a year and a half ago.

Where's Dustin Brown? :dunno:
He is graduated from Prospect status by THN standards.

BTW, THN list is usually a collaboration of scouts from 30 teams. Their 05 list saw only 15 or 16 teams respond.

The date I see on THN website is from February 2004.

Oh, forget that. I see what you mean. Still, it's half a year, players move up and down and a crapload of playes are now elligible for the list which weren't.

It's still nonsensical to whine about it. Especially since it's THN. They suck harder than Pam Anderson on roofies.

He's got a name and a high draft #, but hardly a proven track record.

If you're questioning his actual track record (league he played in, stuff he did, etc.), the same applies to most prospects. Most of the guys on this list have accomplished little, and I'd say Mikko has accomplished s much as most. In that respect the criticism is not valid.

If you're questioning his actual talent and NHL potential, than this is a valid argument. One that I disagree with since Mikko is obviously talented and IMO, definitly belonged on such lists. But feel free to disagree with that.

Then what's Koivu doing on that list?

If you'd have asked this question before last AHL season, I'd have agreed with you. But he had a very nice season in the AHL last year. And this is coming from a guy who has never really liked Koivu. He certainly proved he's better than I thought with his play last season.

For a guy who's 22 and 4 years out from his draft year, he's accomplished very little to justify showing up as a top 25 prospect other than his name and high draft #. I don't consider 78th in scoring in the AHL to be an overwhelming accomplishment for the 25th best prospect in hockey. And that was his best year.

I agree he's a little high on that list, but keep in mind that last year was also his first in NA, and he did have some injury issues to overcome. There's also more to hockey than just scoring.

Man, I gotta stop this. Im actually supporting Koivu now. I cant be doing that ;) .
