Is anyone (the Flyers? The Leauge?) going to actually check to make sure RJ isn't full of shit?
If he’s got a doctor that says he can’t play, not much they can do. Charlie said Johansen did try to reach out to smooth whatever over with Torts if he would get a chance and the Flyers weren’t interested. They could do an injury settlement.

Are they not allowed to get a second opinion in cases like this? Genuine question.

Why not let him play? Put him on double secret probation, and if he acts up, send him home. Maybe they can up his value and sell?

Add? To what?

The Tortorella disaster is only beginning. There going to bleed players away. They won't be anywhere close to a buying situation then. They never rebuilt, and instead they've chained their fate to the most hated asshole in the league.
Aside from the abysmal power play coaching is one of the best asset of this team. Getting the best out of mediocre players is what torts does and mid tier players is what we do have plenty of
No it isn’t. Not unless someone breaks out as a superstar-level player. You have guys who will move on too.
The issue with drafting projects is by the time they are ready they're old enough to have negotiating power. We need to start getting value+ out of the young guys
Our high paid guys aren't going anywhere so get used to them they're signed forever. The Good news is it's about fair money

Who the team, or the player? I don't know how that all works because the team has doctors who they've hired, but the players are allowed to seek out their own second opinions, and that's been a point of emphasis from the PA that they have more control over their medical care.

They just don't want to. Clearly, a line was crossed where another chance is not an advisable option to them, and it doesn't seem it is for anyone else either.

The team. I'm thinking of a scenario where RJ says he can't play anymore, but the team doesn't believe him and would rather he be playing in the AHL for some reason instead of on the LTIR. Is there any recourse for the team in that scenario or is it "a doctor signed off on it, nothing they can do"?

Guess it depends on whose doctor signed off on RJ not being able to play initially, his doctor or the team's.

Johansen found a doctor who wouldn't clear him.

Not sure about the NHL, but in worker's comp law it almost always comes down to dueling doctors over how injured somebody is.

What the hell. Ivan was terrible
Cool nickname idea

Defensively responsible veterans who can actually contribute . None of these guys are good enough to not be 200 ft players

Again, that results in what? Wasted seasons. Wasted time. Wasted careers of good players. Many of us moving yet closer to the grave without ever seeing a Cup.

"Contribute" doesn't cut it. But that's all they seem to want from everyone. Be just good enough to "contribute" a few goals and then grind away. They'll never be able to score enough to matter.

And in that regard, in the way they're catering to the coach, coaching is among the biggest problems for the team; not a solved area aside from the PP.
