It's not your fault bud. You suffer from DF syndrome. ;)

Well at least I'm mature enough not to get into a Pissing match like in the Main thread where it's Finnish fans vs. American fans going "Oooh! My American Player is better than your Finnish Player! Murica! oooga!! oooga!!" or "No. Finnish players are better! NYAAAH!!"

Yep

Obviously would have been MORE than okay winning 1 and taking Hughes but I just prefer to watch a guy like Kakko. #bigboysonly

I'm just excited the Rangers, for the 2nd year in a row, pick a player I've watched extensively and met a few times even. It creates that connection early on as a fan and makes it really easy to jump on the train early. I just never expected us to win the draft lottery. It was as much a long-shot as us picking Kravtsov at 9

i hate how this one highlight is something that keeps getting posted. a highlight of a play that will probably never happen again.

Rangers coach David Quinn excited for the opportunity to add...

Quinn said he knows for a fact that some teams rate Kakko above Hughes — though Quinn absolutely is not saying the Rangers will take either, only because it makes zero sense for any NHL GM or employee to make such an admission before the walk up to the stage at the draft June 21 in Vancouver. You hide your cards, even when it’s obvious what you’re holding.

To be fair, after the 1984 draft Neil Smith declared Kirk Muller to be a better prospect than Mario Lemieux. Not that we'd be unhappy to get a well-rounded player who can captain a team who scored 1,000 NHL points. But people disagreeing with the majority doesn't mean they aren't saying something dumb.

He got awarded as best player on the team aswell. Good game from him.
That pass with 3 minutes remaining was just as nice as his assist.

I LOVE how puck dominate he is. And according to scouts, he’s very good without the puck.

I cannot believe we got so lucky. I just can’t wait to watch him live in a Rangers jersey.

yeah It really hit me watching this game and how he moves without the puck he is really good defence wise, like this game he was almost always the 3rd player back home. Hes awerenes of the game is so great, he really know when to go for it attack wise or when to turn around to go back defend. So many times he linemates stayed in the offence and was still buried head down in there while kakko was already backing up towards the midzoone

Kid just ATTACKS the net
I usually overrate our top prospects, Players like Kakko will always find a way to get on the score sheet, his size, shot, handles, and IQ next to Zib? I truly believe Zibanejad and Kakko will have great chemistry and have a 35+35 season off the bat.

Zibanejad scores 70 with much lesser talent. Imagine with Kakko and or Kravtsov?

So possibly our top 2 players are Finnish because Zibanejad's mom is Finnish even though he was born in Sweden.

Number 54 man. It's the number he got when he started his pro-career, it signifies the 54-year drought that was ended in 1994 by players like Leetch, Graves and Messier whose numbers are what got us the 2nd overall pick in the lottery (2, 5, 9, 11) and most important: It's a Leyland number
too soon to give up the 54 after mcquaid has worn it.

Not sure if you guys saw the video that the Devils twitter put out but they made it very clear theyre taking Hughes.

For those who didnt see:

If I was Kakko I would get ahead of this and post a few pictures involving the Rangers in some way on social media. Maybe at the combine "forget" to send your health information or show up for the Devils interview. Then the icing on the cake, before the draft let it slip that maybe you always wanted to play in New York? They're gonna pick Hughes anyway, it's pretty clear so why not, it would be clever marketing
