Yeah, I don't really see Gomez going anywhere this time. I think he knows that he plays his best hockey here for whatever reason, and he's probably not going to be offered significantly more money by another team than by the Devils. To be honest, if I were the GM of another team, I might still be wary about Gomez, thinking he could produce here but not other places for whatever reason.

Gomez got his big money in NY and I would think he's very careful with handling his finances so he's basically set for life.

In that respect, it's no longer about making the most money you can, because Gomer already did that.

Now it's about playing the game he loves and resurrecting his career. It just so happens that his career is being resurrected in the very same franchise he started in. Basically he's come full-circle.

Good summary. I agree. Gomez is at a different stage in his career compared to when he went to NY, in my opinion, so what he wants is probably different.
