Improved his stock?

Ok bud...

He did...

Just like Batherson is doing, White did in Boston, Chlapik and Chabot did in the Q.

You're clueless. Clearly you have no idea about who he actually is and have most likely never even seen or watched him because the things you say are far from reality. Why waste time and give an opinion when you don't even know?

Has any of the reporters (or whoever in the know) out there said specifically when Dorion went into the dressing room? Before the game? First intermission? Second?

Chabot can be traded and suddenly he’d be an average prospect.

We could trade ceci and all of a sudden it will be “well obviously he wasn’t developing”

Honestly this Organization needs a complete top to bottom analysis of the on ice and off ice performance.

Bring in someone above Dorions head. Let him evaluate Dorions and Lees moves & allow him to fire people within the Front Office as he sees fit to do so. To better direct this Franchise.

I thought we were way past debating the Dahlen trade. It's not that he was traded that's the problem, it's that the return was Alex freakin' Burrows. Remember, Dahlen was a guy that Dorion said was like getting a first rounder in the second round.

God, I would have loved to see which players spoke up and what was said.

You have to think some grievances were aired about Boucher - maybe some players speaking up about how physically and mentally draining it is to play that way every single game. And it wouldn't be aired in the room, but you have to think a few players think that part of this is on Dorion with not replacing Methot, the Duchene trade, and not getting a top 6 forward to replace Mac's impact in the playoffs. And hopefully Anderson took responsibility for his poor play - he would know better than anyone that the team would be in a much better spot if he was putting up last season's numbers.

Really? As good as he could possibly do? What do you think his constraints are?

well he clearly has a guy above him who is making him make trades about money. He has lost everu trade, but the only 1 where u can place all the blame ion him and not melnyk is the dumb burrows trade. everything else was
money motivated.

Hes not good, but hes dealt a bad starting hand

You need an owner who wants to spend in order to get a legitimate group of managers to manage this team.

The idea that every potential GM will avoid us like the plague because we have a kooky owner and a modest budget is a such a load of garbage.

There are 31 NHL GM jobs in the world. In actuality, it's even less because teams like Nashville, Chicago, Tampa etc. like never replace their GM's, and teams like Ottawa and Washington seemingly always hire internal candidates. Not to mention the fact that there's been a recent trend of former great players jumping immediately into high-level executive positions, surpassing lesser known lifelong execs. If you get the opportunity to be a GM in this league, you usually take it.

The alternative is riding the bus with kids in the CHL making like $100k a year. No thanks.

When you are a boss, at some point you have to talk to you employe ( in this case player ) if things aren't going well.

It was the right thing to do. And the players who talk back, it was also the right thing to do.

As a boss or employe if you are not willing to hear feedback, you are doomed.

There is obviously a limit.. like what Melkyk is doing.. that's overboard.

The relationship between a GM and the teams players isn't quite the same as your typical "boss - employee relationship" at almost any other business.

This is a profession that is populated exclusively by alpha-males, and where most of the players have absolute 100% job security.

An NHL GM needs to command respect either thru his accomplishments in the league (as a player or coach, scouting won't cut it) or the strength of his personality. Dorion has neither of these -- he tries to fake having the strong personality, but that's impossible to do -- so there's virtually no reason why the players would respect him or listen to him.

I really feel quite sorry for Dorion. He was promoted into a position that he's not remotely qualified for, and he's probably going thru hell right now as he realizes that sad fact. If the players ran him out of the room, then that would be the ultimate embarrassment.

I think he just likes going against the popular opinion to be different.

So funny that many here whine that Methot and MacArthur weren't replaced and yet want the team to have younger players in the lineup. Was it not reasonable to think that Claesson would have picked up where he left off with his playoffs and late season run? Is he also not younger? Does Dzingel improve this year with the extra minutes and top 6 role? Is he not younger?

People here cannot tolerate losing but, you know, it happens. Now is not the time to go hindsight 20/20 nonsense. It is so annoying with the "would have, should have" stuff. And now apparently he is a moron while in June, he was at the NHL awards nominated for GM of the Year? Really? But you all think he is a moron. And the reason why they are underperforming is the lack of front office staff lol. Right, the owner who is only stroking the cheques, is the problem here.

Goaltending and player's commitment sucks this year. They all thought they were better than they are, and have blown their own season. No need for Dorion to destroy the team. He knows which parts are irreplacaeable and which parts he can move.

Do you really shape your opinion of dorion around his nomination for GM of the year?
