Ilya Kovalchuk with an impressive hat trick in the 3rd period last night vs. the Sens in a losing effort while almost leading Atlanta to an improbable comeback. That makes 9 goals + 6 assists for 15 points in 14 games for Kovy.

Tim Thomas continues to defy the odds with another victory last night for Boston. That makes him 5-2 with a 1.57 GAA and .949 SV% on the season. Thomas has been with the HFNHL Rangers since way back in 2000 and it's great to see him succeeding the NHL after his long winding road through the minors and Europe.

Paul Kariya is off to a good start with his new team with 15 points in 11 games.

Cory Stillman has started off on fire after an off year last season. 4 goals + 10 assists for 14 points in 10 games. He's also +7.

Pavel Kubina is putting up good offensive numbers with 9 points in 13 games. He's also +9.

Mike Richards leads the Flyers in goals with 8, and has 14 total points in 12 games. His 2 shorthanded goals are second in the league.

Daniel Cleary is still playing well in Detroit and is showing his season last year wasn't an enigma. He's got 2 goals and 4 assists and plays on the top PK line with Kris Draper.

Jochen Hecht has 4 goals and 4 assists in 12 games, which puts him on pace to set personal highs in points.

Jeff Hamilton is still scoring and has been lethal on the Powerplay. He has 4 goals and 6 assists in 13 games.

Shane Doan has 2 goals and 8 assists in 11 games. This puts him on pace to set a career high in points

Brian Campbell has 2 goals and 10 assists for 12 points in 12 games, leading the Sabres in scoring. He's also playing a big chunk on the penalty kill for the first time in his career and leads all Sabres in total ice time by nearly 3 minutes per game.

Brent Burns has 3 goals and 3 assists in 13 games and leads the Wild in ice time. He's become their bonafide number one.

Mark Streit has 2 goals and 5 assists in 12 games,as hes done well to fill the shoes of Souray on the Habs PP.

Tom Gilbert has looked good in his first full NHL season and has established himself as an NHL regular. He's got 2 goals and an assist and is 3rd on the Oilers in ice time.

Another hatty for a HFNHL Rangers player, this time Cory Stillman. He had a natural hat trick in the 1st period last night and also later added an assist. He now has 8 goals + 11 assists for 19 points in 12 games.

You guys are really rolling. Reggie, I hope you are taking note of this because many of them are on a contract year.:sarcasm:

FYI.. Bertuzzi has one goal and one assist for Ducks and he is a UFA at the end of the season.:biglaugh:

Well, six point games happen so rarely (like what, twice this week) - they deserve to be bragged up.

Milan Hejduk scored a hat trick and added 3 assists against St. Louis earlier this week.

And in other news - tonight RJ Umberger found his scoring skates, with 3 goals and 2 assists.

The emergence of the monster?

For a guy known only for his physics, hitting and fighting ability, Douglas Murray has really stepped up his play this season. Going from a rarely used enforcer to a regular 5th defenseman, playing more than 15 minutes per night while leading the Sharks with a +14 rating (also good for top 10 in the entire league) in his 3rd NHL season is remarkable - and it is not enough.

He still hits and fights viciously (if his opponents don't just go away like George Parros did in a recent game). Looks like he is a prime candidate for a contract extension ... :yo:

OKay, he's not my player (yet), but this thread would not not be complete without a shout out to Marion Gaborik for the first 5 goal game in a decade.

ummm Ty Conklin

Conklin has yet to lose for the Penguins this season since being recalled from the minor leagues when Marc-Andre Fleury went down with an ankle injury. He now owns a 7-0-0 record and should see his 2.30 goals against average drop. He also had an 928 save percentage entering the game, which should rise above the 933 mark. In terms of fantasy impact this might be a short term fix, but there should be no reasons why you would not want to pick him up right now. He is easily the leagues hottest goaltender. If he can continue his solid play until Fleury returns, there might be an outside chance that he keeps the starters job and runs with it relegating Fleury to the bench.

Steve Downie scored his first NHL goal... but of course then he sucker punched Jason Blake. Is this guy going to drive me nuts or what?

Colin Stuart, a 2001 5th round draft pick that the Flames have had a lot of patience with, has made the most of his NHL debut playing on the top line in Atlanta. He has 2 goals and 4 points in his first 5 games.

Goto this link and watch at around 3:41 - Stuart goes end to end against Buffalo - It's the Thrashers third goal of the night

You Tube Link

And defenceman Ryan Lannon (who I signed as a free agent on the same day as Daniel Girardi) has been called up by the Penguins and will make his NHL debut this week.

And two Flames have been voted starters for the NHL All-Star games... Both Pavel Datsyuk and Jarome Iginla will start for the West.

Well....the HFNHL Canucks may have little to brag about, but at least Evgeny Malkin is maybe the best player in the NHL right now.

Leading scorer in the NHL now with 78 points. I hope Crosby never comes back. :yo:

murray's ice time is now up to over 20 minutes, he gets time on the powerplay and short-handed and he scored his first NHL goal last night against the flyers.

Way to go, Douglas!

Although a number of my players are playing quite well too...my goalies are even better. Three goalies in the top 11 in save percentage: Brodeur (.922), Bryzgalov (.922) and Price (.916). Brodeur could very well win another Vezina.

Well, I have 5 forwards in the top 51, even with the injuries to Sid, Hossa and Whitney. Kunitz is 82nd and Nylander had almost a point a game before his season was cut short at 40 games.
Among the defensemen aI have 4 in the top 36 in points and Robidas(62nd) and Komisarek(85th) are having career seasons.
And no worries in goal with Jiggy ranking 3rd in GAA with 2.13 and tied with Brodeur and Bryzgalov for 2nd in Sv% with .922

The Panthers are very excited to have 2 of the top 5 scoring defenseman in the league for next season in Brian Campbell and Mark Streit. We've also got Brent Burns and Tom Gilbert who havent been slouches either this season with 12 goals a piece. Here's hoping this improves the Panthers powerplay next season!

Um... er.... sheesh, not a lot to be excited about in Jackets land.

Marty St. Louis is 14th in league scoring and 3rd among RWs. He's also 5th in the league in assists, tied with fellow Jacket Henrik Sedin.

Olli Jokinen, despite the slump he went into after almost decapitating Richard Zednik, is 22nd in league scoring and 5th in power-play markers.

Sedin, in addition to the aforementioned assist ranking, is 26th in league scoring.

And, um... that's about it. Decent development from Dustin Penner (11 power-play goals) and Nik Zherdev. Kubina's having a very solid season... for him, at any rate. Goalies are all rather mediocre - and having three of them doesn't really make that better... it will be interesting to see how the ratings come out for next year. Odds are we'll be struggling to make the playoffs just liek this year. Ugh. :help:
