Nothing but the highest respect and regard for Mark Streit. Good luck and good health. If Kimmo won't come coach the young D, maybe he will...

Streit came here to bolster the defense for a cup run or two. Unfortunately, the team went in a different direction and he never got his chance.

Now he has a chance to play with the reigning champions. Good luck Mark!

played good hockey for this team in his first 2 years. His body started to betray him in the end here, but I really believe he was trying his hardest but it just wasnt happening for him.
good guy. Hextall raved about his high end character he brought to the room.

Hey guys, pens fan here. What is streit like at this point on a contender ? Just an extra depth or is he still a solid bottom pairing guy ? His skating is average at this point ? Is his passing still solid and how is his defense ? Thanks in advance

Everything is pretty "meh"

Passing is fine and he's a smart player. He can still run the point on a PP2, but for you guys, when healthy, he'll probably be a 6/7/PP specialist.

You will like having Streit on your team. He's a very good PPQB, more a passer than shooter but he can score slipping in on the backside. His D has always been better then he gets credit for. He's a gamer who will play well for the Pens.

Good on PP and would be fine in a sheltered bottom-pairing role. If you lean on him for big defensive assignments, he will kill you.

He already scored the GWG and had 2 points in his first game. He'll be worth the 4th rd pick.

At this point he's awful, your best hope is that being on a contender covers for his level of play. You would be very very lucky to get any kind of positive impact out of him (after the new team honeymoon phase).

I haven't watched him since he was traded but before the trade he was awful defensively and not even close to good enough offensively to make up for it. When he subbed in for Ghost on the PP he was horrible and basically PK'ed for the other team. He loves to shoot into shin pads, can't hold the puck in the zone to save his life, and when playing on a unit with Provorov he loved to pass it to him in a position so a one-timer was impossible (either in his skates or way in front/behind him).

On a defense with people like MacDonald and Manning, he still stood out as the worst of the bunch.

Trading him was my biggest hope for the deadline, to the point that I (and others) were so sick of him that even the thought of getting a lone 7th round pick would have been considered a success.

I don't know how much of his injury last year was hurting his play this year, but I don't think it was much because it seemed like a lot of his problems came from being braindead instead of old (although his age was certainly showing too).
