Everyone knew the losses were coming. It’s just how they have come that has been disconcerting for the Islanders.

After starting their recent four-game road trip with two wins, the Isles dropped the final two in awful fashion, turning the puck over in abundance in a disturbing 5-2 loss to the lowly Oilers on Sunday, then a 3-2 loss to the Canucks on Tuesday that was worse than it looked.

“We had this problem last year a little bit,†coach Jack Capuano said after Thursday’s practice on Long Island, preparing for Friday’s game against the Devils in Newark. “Hopefully we come out of this funk, about how we manage the puck. Our execution on our breakouts and our transition wasn’t good.....â€
