I just added six new jerseys to the collection -- Swedish Women's Team from Sochi, another Latvia, Croatia, Gatineau, Peterborough and Baie-Comeau.

Right now, I have a "den" in my place that is all boxes from when I moved two years ago. In there is one of those industrial strength storage rack things. I bought one of those off of Amazon. I need another, but I have no room until I clean out like 40 boxes.

There is a closet in that Den, that is full of jerseys. Then I have a coat closet that has jerseys in it, my walk in closet in my room, and I hang about 20 or more on this random stand in my living room which I have no idea what to do with.

Needless to say, it's an issue...and will continue to get worse. I can't even get into that den really, it's about two minutes of fiddling with the doors and sucking in my stomach to get through.

My solution - had this closet specially built for jerseys when we had our house built - houses over 180 hockey gamers (plus one football gamer) and over 800 jerseys in total across hockey, football, baseball, basketball and soccer -

Left side is double-hung - top level is NHL front 2/3 and NFL in back. Bottom level is NHL front 2/3 and MLB/NBA/EPL in back. Gamers cascade from the top level (removed in first 2 pics) and frequently worn jerseys cascade from the lower level.
Across the back are gamers and some football and down the right side its all gamers on face-out bars -

Holy snikes, I have never seen so many jerseys. I can't fathom spending all that money on jerseys. But then again, everyone has to have a hobby, and lord knows I have spent PLENTY of cash on my deer hunting addiction.

Yeah, if/when I ever get a house I'd look at doing something along those lines but in a one room apartment with a den, I obviously can't do a custom creation as cool as that (though I'd like to).

Aye mate, and that's after maybe 3 going into 4 seasons of collecting? At least in terms of game worns. The hobby is WAY bigger now, so they are jacking up prices, producing multiple sets, and guys like bobby who got into it earlier had a definite advantage in terms of selection and price I'd think --- though you'd have to do more work to find them.

For me, it's just me now, no wife, no kids, no mom/dad (both passed away one when I was 6, one at 27) so it's just me. The way I look at it is now is "my time" to get and compile all the sports stuff I want for essentially the rest of my life, since if a Mrs. Bunyan and a horde of Viking children come along that will cost a fortune, especially if they grow to be as big as I am.

Food costs alone would put me in the poor house.

There was a LOT of negotiating for that closet when we built our house - new living room furniture, some jewelry, etc. - expensive room to add but soooo worth it.......

Hobby is much bigger now and while some prices are way out of whack, the more jerseys that are available, the lower the overall demand and the lower the prices will become, especially in the secondary market. Most of what I collect is 80's, 90's and 00's fighters and back in those days, players only wore a couple sets each a year, so the costs of acquiring those jerseys now is through the roof, depending upon the player of course. BUT, those jerseys hold their value, which as I alluded to above, doesn't happen so much these days with the newer stuff - a jersey that costs $500 through a team 'source', can be worth only 50% - 70% of that value in the secondary market.
