The Good:

Benson-Mittelstadt-Greenway open the scoring and had a strong game.
Dahlin offensively.
The PKing.
The top line capitalizing on shoddy tending and some nice passing.
Physical play early from guys like Greenway and Clifton seemed to draw them even more into the game.
Scoring a shorty? And a 5-on-3 goal? Killing a 5-on-3?? What?
Okposo with the physical game and a pair of goals.
Clifton has walked the walk after talking the talk.
Yonni Ryan Johnson early attacked and tipped the ice his first few shifts and they built on it.
Ending the night with the Leaf goal song on the PA.
Levi's point-blank stop on Brodie I thought was big - that's the sort of timing where a goal puts a mentally fragile team in a hole.

The Bad:

That first goal against was so typical.
Giving up a shorty.
Domi being a dink.

The Ugly:

Samsonov was... :horrors:

Ugly: 12 years without the playoffs, given an opportunity to hang 10 on the hated Leafs and like the failures that they are they come up short. Even on a night where they score 9 goals and win by 6 these guys find a way to suck the life out of you.

Definitely responded well from an utter catastrophe the other night. Had some swagger, played a bit more like last season in January or so. Of course it was against a bad defensive team and a goalie that wasn't awake, but still. All I really hope for at this point is for the team to get right and play proper hockey for the next four months...maybe get it right for next season.

The five on three goal was after a clean faceoff loss to Brodie who promptly turned the puck over.

This team for the first time time this year played 60 full minutes.
There is hope for them yet!

Fun game. Much needed after that last dud.

I’m not hopeful at all that this game was some kind of turning point. I expect the Jekyll and Hyde routine to continue.
