Lost in the FA Frenzy was that Rundblad era is finally over in Chicago as he and Hawks mutually terminated his contract

After washing out in Pho and Chicago ,, Do you expect we will ever see Rundblad in an NHL uniform again?

Or is his future strictly European leagues?

I'd say it's likely that he is done in the NHL. Nothing he has done so far indicates that a club would take a chance in him again as a reclamation project. KHL or Switzerland are most likely destinations for him.

He'll come back to Europe and tear up the SHL/KHL/NLA for a few years and some GM will be willing to take a chance on him when he is 28/29.

I highly doubt he'll have any kind of meaningful NHL career, but he'll get another chance at some point.

Oilers might give him a chance considering the whole RHD with supposed offense thing he had going as his selling point earlier. .. He should get a camp invite from multiple teams I think..

He'll probably get some PTOs.

If not, he'll head back to Europe and tear **** up.

These guys have it made. If I was ever good at hockey like them, get drafted, go to college for free via an ELC, sign a 1 or 2 year deal in the NHL. Put the money directly into retirement investments, hope for the best. If it doesn't work, go over seas and make what most people make in 10-15 years every year. Do this for as long as you can, then retire in your 30's with a degree, contacts, name recognition, full retirement savings, most likely a home paid off etc.

Man... I am such a sucker.

To me it looks like he doesn't think the game fast enough to play in the NHL where the game is faster and there's less room. He's got the physical tools but not the brain (and maybe not the heart either).

Answer = Europe

I think he's always been a better Euroleague player with the bigger ice than in a more confined space.

He'll be a top end European player, a very successful one that ate.

The space to create and move, and not worry as much about the physicality of the North American game will be a comforting environment for him to succeed.

Hopefully back overseas. He was the worst defenseman I have ever seen in Arizona. Absolutely terrible.

I'm not sure he would tear up the KHL, but he's proven it in the SHL and NLA.

Sure, you make it sound easy. They have their own troubles too. They need to be able to spend thousands out at the bar with their buddies or else they might seem uncool. That's not cheap. :sarcasm:

Hard to believe Blues got the Tarasenko pick for this guy from Ottawa.

I have never seen anything in his game that screamed NHL defenseman.

Slow. Weak. Soft. Low motor. No hockey smarts.

I might be wrong, but weren't you one of the posters who blamed DT and the management for not giving him a chance, and said they screwed up his development?:dunno:

I like Rundblad, because if you base your opinion of a player entirely off of HERO charts, like many people on this website do, you'd think he's an elite player.

I would take him back on Ottawa on a 2 way deal, worst case he gives a big boost to bingo

I'd like to see EDM give him a PTO/2-way deal if they can't bring in another RHD. Give him limited minutes and use as PP specialist. Otherwise we don't have much in the way of a PP quarterback at all... And we just let Brad Hunt leave the organisation for St Louis so there is those shoes to fill in the AHL if he doesn't cut the mustard with the oilers

Klefbom - Larsson
Sekera - Fayne
Davidson - Rundblad
