Before binnington and Adin hill won the cup, you must have been certain that these were surefire #1 goalies.

Goalies hit and miss in the playoffs. Oilers getting hellybuck for free still won't win the cup. Look how that went for the jets, a vezina candidate looking like Skinner 2.0.

I didn't say they needed anything other than average. Binnington, Hill, Kuemper etc are OK goalies who were solid and consistent who gave their team a chance. Talbot was OK for that some of the time but the rest haven't been good enough.

The more important question is, can the Oilers afford to resign both McDavid and Drai? Draisaitl will want 13M on his next contract.

Of course they can afford to resign them. You don't let those players walk.

If either Drai or McDavid leave, it won't be because Oilers can't afford them, but more because they want to leave.
