in respect to a trophy for the best overall dman? no idea. is this karlssen guy some dude who played defence in europe in the 50's?

The best defenseman award should be the "Robert Gordon Orr Trophy"!!!!
Its a no-brainer. I can't believe the NHL hasn't made this move.

Seems to me that the NHL owners would be widely resistant to naming a trophy after a former player who: (1) was one of the first to engage an agent (Alan Eagleson,unfortunately) in entry-level contract negotiations; (2) later became one of the first unrestricted free agents; and (3) now runs a player agent enterprise. The BOGs are kinda particular about such things.
