Yeah, I'll bet the rest of us were aware well before CBS SportsLive was ... :whatever:

Convenient (for them) that the BU v Harvard game is available (for paid subscribers) on NESN+. :yashin:

BU women relegated to the Consolation Game, while Harvard takes a spot in next Tuesday's Finals ...

I guess we'll see tonight @ 7:30 ET whether NESN+ and CBS SportsLive have kissed & made up over Beanpot broadcast rights.

BC 1 - Northeasterm 0 as the 2nd period of the second Semifinals game is underway. Goal by Eagles' junior defender Alexie Guay ...

The SportsLive feed reappeared, but there is no audio. Halfway there. :banghead:

Period 2 of Game #2 has come and gone ...

NU dominated the offensive flow & chances in the first 10+ minutes of the middle frame, but they could beat Eagles' senior goalie Abigail Levy. Then the momentum swung to BC for a 3 to 4 minute sequence, before the last five minutes became a back & forth affair.

Now if the SportsLive techno-geniuses can just restore the audio feed ( and KEEP the video feed running), the third period could be an entertaining one. :crossfing

Huskies' junior forward Chloé Aurard ties the game 1-1 with some nifty stickhandling to beat Levy in the 8th minute of the 3rd.

But BC regains their one-goal lead a minute & a half later on a power play, with Guay netting her second of the night past NU graduate goaltender Aerin Frankel.

Now 2-1 Eagles with about 6 minutes left, but they have two skaters in the box.

Northeastern adds a 6th attacker with 90 seconds left.

ETA: Some sort of play review with 1:14
left, but no audio to explain. :dunno:

And BC upsets the tourney favorite to clinch a spot in the Beanpot Finals, on an ENG with 27.7 seconds left. Goal #3 credited to Eagles' freshman forward phenom Abby Newhook.

Next Tuesday's Women's Beanpot match-ups are set: BU vs. NU in the Consolation, Harvard vs. BC in the Finals. See original post for game date & times.

ETA: Game #2 BC v Northeastern summary linked in the final score box of the original post.

Crowds are showing up for the Beanpot, changing the atmosphere for women’s college hockey

By Kat Cornetta, Globe correspondent
Updated February 2, 2022, 6:44 p.m.

For longtime women’s college hockey followers, the crowd at Tuesday night’s Women’s Beanpot semifinal between Boston College and host Northeastern University was a very welcome sight.

The crowd of 1,755 may not have been the largest in Women’s Beanpot history (2020′s championship game, played just weeks before the season shut down because of the COVID pandemic, claims 35 more fans), but it was definitely the loudest and most like the traditional men’s crowds. It was an important moment for a tournament that has previously seen crowds of fewer than 1,000.

“It was a great atmosphere,” said Northeastern coach Dave Flint, whose team fell, 3-1. “That was the most fans we’ve had in the building in a while. I wish we gave them a little better outcome than tonight.” ...

Men’s Beanpot ready to take center stage at TD Garden after one-year hiatus

By Andrew Mahoney, Globe Staff
Updated February 6, 2022, 7:27 p.m.

After taking a year off, the men’s Beanpot is back.

The first two Mondays in February will again feature Boston College, Boston University, Harvard, and Northeastern battling for bragging rights at TD Garden.

Last year, the tournament was canceled for the first time in its 69-year history because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Making this year’s tournament unique is that each of the four schools will be missing key players, with at least one from each team competing in the 2022 Beijing Olympics. ...

BU had a power play in the closing minutes of the 1st period, but their season 11% PP conversions were no match for NU's 91+% season PK efficiency.

End of 2, 2-0 for the Northeastern women. Total SOGs now 18-10 in favor of NU. BU will have to kill of 58 seconds of a carry-over minor penalty to start the 3rd period, if they want to stay in this race for the consolation win.
