This next set of 5 could sink our ship. The thought of being 7-8 games under. 500 before December is a pretty deep hole to climb out of. We'd have to go 15-18 games over .500 the next 57 games to have a chance. :(

Boston game will be a huge. An 8 point set is what we need.

Looks like we'd need to go 25-13-5 to make the playoffs. That means some more winning streaks.

That Boston game could come back to be a crucial one. We got another 6 pt set but it could be 7 or 8 and I'll update when we play that game. Otherwise, we've started to show some progression towards the 96pt goal. Still a ton of work to do, without a trade to bolster forward depth and help the PP, we will need at least 2-3 more 5 game win streaks along with .500 hockey at minimum.

The DET loss stings this set, we dominated them but the refs were hooking happy and felt we could have snagged the extra point with CBJ but 5pts is better than 3 or 4 and we've been at 5 or 6 consistently for the last 5 sets.

The set AFTER this one looks to be a chance at a 8-9 pt set. Need to be prepared for this one ahead as NSH, DAL and WSH will be a good measure of where we are as we come to the trade deadline. The next 2 sets should make that decision for us. Hopefully Lu comes back and stay healthy, ease him in and be the backup as Reimer has earned the benefit of doubt.

26 of our final 38 games are against Eastern conference teams, 17 of those 26 against divisional teams. We are still alive but need a boost in some areas, Lu coming back, the PP to get more consistent and a possible trade to help depth scoring.

We're going to need another win streak. I think we can afford to only lose 11 games in regulation to have a chance at the playoffs. That feels hard. We still control our fate but boy is it going to be hard to win enough games.

We also have 13 games or so against teams we need to beat out for the playoffs. Need to win most/almost all of those.

Try multiple streaks, unless we're talking another 12 wins in a row.
Right now, to get to a wildcard spot, even if we won the next five games, we'd still need at least four of these to happen:
- Rangers gaining 0 points in the next three games
- Pittsburgh gaining 0 points next game
-Philadelphia gaining at most three points in their next four games
-Islanders not winning their next two
-Carolina getting 5 points or less in their next four games.

Still a lot of season left but that hole is very deep.

The games against the Bruins are not going to be easy i.e. I'm predicting a series of losses against them. The Panthers have to keep a 6-2-2/6-3-1 in 10-type of record the remainder of the season if they want to the get into the playoffs. If the 12 game winnings streak was amazing in the '15-16 campaign then overcoming the current challenge is totally on another level.

Would like to help, but don't know how.

Save the last pic/jpeg and enter/edit in the open spaces in Paint 3D in your computer/laptop.
On pace is calculated by amount of points we have divided by amount of games played multiplied by 82.
Everything else is pretty straight forward and then upload the pic in a post.

Hoping @Pumaconcolorcoryi or @pb1300 can help if you can't do it.

Season average rate has us getting 62 * 82/59 points = 86. That's 5.25 pts per 5 games.

If we go 7 pts per 5 games the rest of the way, we'll get to 91-92 pts. We probably need that PLUS an extra win somewhere along the way.

That's one regulation loss in every five game set from now on, and three Ws. The fourth game can be an OT/SO loss in all except one set.

It's still a tough hill to climb but doing 6 in 5 the whole season is tough anyway. It's certainly looking a lot more possible than 3 weeks ago.

We probably need some help before TDL.

Actually, I think that the way things are going, it seems more likely than not that 92, even 91 points would be enough to get the final Wild Card spot. The sportsclubstats algorithm gives Panthers an 81% chance of getting to playoffs if they reach 91 points and 90% chance with 92 points. The cut-off could even be under 90 points although that starts to be less likely.

Heh.

This chart is missing the makeup boston game which is happening at the very end after Buffalo.

Something to keep in mind. We are carrying that one game in hand till the very end.
