Guys like Leetch, Bourque, Niedermeyer, Stevens, Macinnis, Sydor, Seabrook, Murphy, and Pronger are obviously useless bums as well. I mean the Oilers have taken exactly 0 impact defensemen in the 2nd round, but hey lets hope they can buck the trend at the most important point of this rebuild.
Yup. No trades, and no picking any dmen in the first round. 10 year playoff drought? Pffft. Go get those 2nd and 3rd round studs. If everything goes right they may be ready to step in 3-5yrs from now and if not, maybe our grandchildren's grandchildren can watch a playoff game in the new Mact Place.

Hall for Hamonic + might not be the worst thing ever if Lucic is in the bag.

Yes, Hall is our 2nd most impactful player but we would have better balance in our top 6 and Hamonic is a legit 1st pairing d.

I hope there's at least SOME movement today

I expect the Oilers will have one or two deals done today but could be minor. 50% chance we trade the pick.

I think Subban talk is dead
I think everything is busy though. nobody has time to talk and talks are too close to completion to risk letting info out.

Given all the scenarios swirling around today, I'll be intentionally vague - I hope we leave the draft with the best possible set of assets for the Oilers going forwards.

Ending up with Hamonic and Wideman isn't the worst thing, it just better not cost more than 4th for Hamonic and 19th or Eberle for Hamonic and cap dump for Wideman.

Package for Subban I prefer obviously.

If there is no movement of that 4th pick today is the polar opposite of last year in terms of emotion.

Yep, absolute joke if they can't add an impact dman and still choose Tkachuk. We don't even have a potential #1 dman in the system. Its a damn joke. Even if you take Sergachev and he turns into a top 4 dman. It's easier to package top 4 dman along with some other pieces for a top flight dman, then it is to try and trade for a defenceman with absolutely nothing going back to help them out. If we had a guy like Shattenkirk for example, how much easier does it get to close the Subban deal?

If Lucic is in the bag - like really in the bag - then you move any combination of Pouliot, Eberle, 4th, 2017 1st, RNH, or really anyone else for a top pairing D, tell Hall or Lucic they're playing RW this year, and giggle at your good fortune.

They need to trade the pick for immediate help on the back end that is either an all situations minute muncher or an offensive pp qb or possibly both. No half measures.

Surely the Magic Defense Genie can help us out. If that doesn't work if we leave a skate under our pillow the Defense Fairy will turn it into Doughty.

Not much since he only has one year to UFA.

The Sergachev stuff is repetitive. Saying it over and over won't make it come true.
