Watched part of Friday's Michigan/UMass-Lowell game which featured 2015 draft eligible D Zach Werenski. Like his former teammate Noah Hanifin, Werenski fast tracked his last year of high school in order to become college freshman this season. It was just one game, but Werenski looked like a veteran with a goal and assist. Seemed very poised with the puck and is getting the minutes that Michigan lost with Merrill/Trouba turning pro last year.

ISS and Craig Button had Werenski at #11 on their most recent lists. We probably wouldn't be in the market for another D, but it might be nice knowing that there will be a highly touted D taken before us (knock on wood) thereby leaving a forward on the board.

6 foot right wing Colin White.

It would be funny if we ended up with White. He was playing center during the game that I saw him, but I've him listed at C/RW. Somebody on the main board said White had a bout with mono which caused him to miss a chunk of games last month. It looks like he's back in the lineup today though.

Jeremy Bracco seems to be rising as well. I didn't know anything about him when I went to see the USNTDP several weeks ago. Came away from the game liking him more than White/Greenway. Bracco is even outscoring Auston Matthews (early favorite to go #1 in 2016). Size is an obvious concern and he didn't appear to have blazing speed. But he got his nose dirty and has a fantastic wrister.

Still a bit early, but I just hope it's one of those years where we can make the playoffs and still land an impact guy a la 95/98/03/04.

NBCSN will also have BC/BU on Friday which will feature Eichel, Hanifin, and possible first rounder A.J. Greer. It's too bad Santini got hurt as it would have been fun to see him matched against Eichel.

Decent amount of centers in this top 20. Feel like that is where we should be looking as getting a center that can score more then Henrique and Zajac is our biggest need.

Edit: Seems like potentially more defense in the 1st round this year then last year too. I wonder depending on where we are if we go BPA and take defense or go off the board for a forward.

I don't know anything outside of stats and little blurbs here and there, but I'm intrigued by Evgency Svechnikov and Mikko Rantanen. Filip Chlapik is another kid I haven't heard a lot about but seems to have a whole lot of skill in a good frame.

Why Connor would take such a risk at this point by doing what his other teammates should be doing.....It's mind-boggling. Oy!

Heat of the moment I guess.

But I wonder if McDavid is out for a stretch if Eichel could jump him in the draft?

I doubt it, Eichel is really ****ing good, like MacKinnon/Hall/Pat Kane good, but the McDavid hype train has no breaks.

If McD misses the WJC and Eichel kills it, then *MAYBE* there's a chance.

*cue the Jim Carrey "So you're telling me there's a chance?" picture*

But I'm not seeing it. They will go 1 and 2 with McDavid going first like planned.

McDavid is currently outscoring his OHL competition at a stronger pace than Crosby did. I dunno how much that really means, but the very idea that he COULD be the next Crosby (or better?!) is gonna guarantee he goes 1st overall.

I know we're not going to get him, and I know I'll prob grow to dislike him, but I hope he is better then Crosby, and that's not because I dislike Crosby either.

Pretty much this. McDavid train is full steam ahead unless his legs literally fall off.

That said Eichel looks amazing as well so whatever team ends up with him as a consolation prize should not feel bad.

I really hope we can snag Brandon Carlo in the 2nd round. I think he could become another 2nd round defensive steal.

I saw Carlo play a couple times during a preseason tournament in September. He looked solid enough defensively and I liked how quickly he was making his reads. I didn't see a ton of offensive upside, not that there's anything wrong with a steady stay at home guy in the 2nd. We seem a little full on RH D have Santini/Jacobs in the pipeline along with Severson/Larsson.

Like Bob McKenzie said, McDavid is 17 and things happen in the heat of the moment. Looks like he should be ready just in time for the WJC. In a weird way, I wonder if scouts are looking on the bright side of this injury in that they can get a look at Dylan Strome without McDavid.

To be honest, that just makes me want to draft him more.

As much as it would suck for us, it would be cool to see McDavid on the Blue Jackets. Every other plausible scenario (aside from us...) is annoying to me.

These owners aren't afraid to tank (Hello 76ers 2 year tank job plan)

I can't imagine Lou would ever let that happen though.

I really really really wanna see McDavid go out west. It's already enough having Crosby, Malkin, Stamkos, Ovechkin, and Tavares in this conference. Send some superstars the other way for once.

Then you'd better root for the Oilers to get him 'cause they're the only western team that we can count on to have one of the best chances as opposed to the twin-towers-of-suck in the east(Buffalo and Carolina)
