The 2010 Draft begins on the 7th, this week, at noon eastern, the same day as the NHL regular season. Now, we'll be going with 10 teams. Please each team (each co-GM can too) vote on the following options (LIST THEM in order of preference). Today!
Option 1: "The draft will last exactly 12 days, two picks per day."
This is the standard option from the last two drafts, where you make 2 picks anytime during the day. The draft is less than two weeks, quick because in the past there wasn't much time between the MLD and the next ATD. BUT, we aren't beginning the next ATD until January so there's no need to hurry so quickly. Hence the next two options.
Option 2: "The draft will last exactly 24 days, one pick a day."
This would give us plenty of time, basically take up the month, with early November for the playoffs. There still would be nearly two months after that for a break before the next main draft.
Option 3: "The draft will last 18 days, one pick per day for 12 days then double picks per day after that, from picks 13/14 through 23/24."
This would honor the fact that the greatest competition, care and importance is in the first half of the draft, though many rabbits are pulled out of hats later in the minor league drafts so the double rounds shouldn't be taken lightly, and might actually prove challenging, especially with this option of having double picks then.
