What's with all the 87's on this list? How can they still be draft eligible? Wouldn't they have already been drafted if they were any good?

Trotter's achilles tendon was severed and he only played five games last year. Otherwise, he would have been drafted.

I agree, with an injury like a severed achilles tendon, NHL teams were going to wait to see how Trotter recovered, regardless of how high his stock was.

As for Lasch, he didn't get ANY exposure in the tiny CJHL, despite his 2.46 PPG. Him, Martinez, Nash, and Smith are all second year draft eligible and are having gangbuster years for really good teams.

I don't know how many 2nd years were taken in last year's draft, but I'm sure there were more than a handful. Just look in the later rounds.

I dont' know anything about Knelsen but O'B and Sweatt should be high picks this summer. I'd put Galiardi up there he's having a good year with Dartmouth. I haven't seen Denver yet either, so I don't know where Trotter is ranked.

I hope someone takes a flyer on Lasch. The kid works his butt off and has definitly shown a lot of skill for the Huskies this year. He's little, but none of his goal have been from outside the circles, he has no problems going in against the trees, and more often than not, he'll come out with the puck.

There's not a lot of draft eligible talent in the NCAA this year.


McKeen's has Sweatt and O'Brien in the top 20, after that there is a significant dropoff, with Knelson, Galiardi and Kampfer the only others in the top 200 at this time.

Good research Jayzin! It's not surprising that a good portion of those 2nd/3rd years were goalies (8 of 46) since goaltenders take the longest to mature.
