A team that plays great 5 on 5 is exactly who should want him. He can’t outscore his holes in a wide open system with young players behind him. But a team that has everything figured out except putting enough pucks in the net? That’s who can lift up what he lacks while giving him even more opportunities at what he provides.

He's never been a great defensive player but next to Eichel, he was a pretty productive player. If you have a guy that can get him the puck, Vic will put it in the net. It's been a particularly tough year and a half for VO since he (reportedly) injured his ribs. With a more rigid system and an apple center, he can be worth more than his contract.

Was Mike Hoffman in demand? He got traded for a 2nd round pick after a 56 point season. He then only got a 1 year deal after a try out even though he had 59 points in 69 games. If he had any interest now Habs would've moved him.

I agree, but you said his whole career. I still don't think teams were ever that high on him. That kind of playstyle just isn't that valuable unless you have the ability to score 40+

Used correctly - especially on the powerplay - he'll score 20+ goals for any team. Imagine the numbers he'd put up with Tavares, Matthews and/or Marner setting him up.

He’d also put up decent numbers by playing on ateam strong off line at ES. Iirc he put up 20 es goa lo s this past season.
