I didn't have a strong feeling about any of the players available. Makes sense for this part of the draft I guess. Looks like lots of good guys to take chances on for various reasons though.

That's just the thing about drafting. History tells us there's very likely a David Pastrnak, Sebastian Aho or Alex DeBrincat on that list of options. The challenge, is figuring out which one is "the one."

So for the many people that voted Dorofeyev, what's the deal? I haven't read or seen much of him.
He plays with a decent edge to his game and has a pretty solid skill level for someone that has a good chance of being available at that point in the draft. No true plus level skills but definitely a guy that's all-around very solid. Should eventually be a top 6 guy for whoever gets him.

I'm going to get this right this year. I'm going to do the research and predict out first-rounder.

That would be impressive if only because at 28 one or two players who most think will go early are likely to drop. I think both Tomasino and Brink are great picks, but I for one wouldn't predict them because both SHOULD be gone. Likewise, one or two players who are going 30 or after in mocks will be gone in the real draft. Just last year few expected Veleno to be available at 30 or Noel at 34, while O'Brien wasn't in many experts' first round.

Interesting note is O’Brien is going the route of canes prospect Jack LaFontaine and leaving the ncaa to play next year in Penticton if he BCHL. Not a great sign for your first rounder.

Vladislav Kolyachonok is my choice for the 'Canes #1 Pick for the 2019 NHL Draft.
Seen him play several times for the London Knights before being moved to Flint.
2018-19 Team: Flint Firebirds (#18); Date of Birth: May 26, '01, Left-D-Man.
Place of Birth: Minsk, Belarus; Ht: 6’2” Wt: 181 lbs.
“Kolyachonok is an intelligent player. His positioning in the defensive zone is very sound. His skating allows him to angle opponents off – difficult to beat one-on-one. He uses a very active stick to defend and closes lanes smartly and quickly. His transitioning from defence to offence is excellent. He has the ability to skate out of danger and out of the zone, but he is also capable of making an excellent first pass. He is also a left shot defender who plays as strong on his off side.” – Dominic Tiano/OHL Writers
