It's a smart move by both parties. He'll get PP time on a very dangerous PP and he'll get pretty sheltered EV minutes I imagine. Good opportunity for him to put up some good numbers and get himself a decent deal next season.

For the team, it keeps Rutta or Schenn off the ice on a nightly basis, which is a big win. It also lets them keep Masin and Foote in Syracuse without feeling the pressure to bring one up to try and get Rutta or Schenn out of the lineup.
