Good luck Steven(and Mrs. Piscotty). Hate to see him go, but it's not a typical set of circumstances.

Saw some speculation this morning that it's Munoz and Schrock. Haven't seen it confirmed by one of the big writers yet though. If it's both, I'd be very happy with that return.

Susan Slusser said Munoz and Schrock were being discussed, and that Schrock has fallen on the depth chart due to acquiring Mateo/Neuse.

Would be a win/win if it's the both of them.

munoz and schrock are the prospects going to STL. (13th and 17th ranked prospects)

munoz can play IF and OF, has some pop in his bat too. schrock has not stopped hitting since the A's acquired him in 2016. his defense is average at best but the kid can hit and i'm really bummed to see him go. STL got two very good prospects

not too sold on this trade right now considering what the A's gave up but obviously that'll change if piscotty can return to his 2016 form, which I think he can given that he's playing right in his backyard now

I would be pretty surprised if Piscotty doesn't bounce back in a nice way. He's a very good player. Personally, I think his mother's illness doomed last season and being close to home is going to help him relax a ton.

This is a good trade for the A's. They got a legitimate starting outfielder on a very reasonable long term contract.

Piscotty was a favorite of mine from his beginning in St Louis, hate to see him go but... happy to know its probably a better situation for him being so close to home/Mom.

I hope he can bounce back now that he's closer to home and getting a fresh start. Could be a very nice trade for the A's.

I like this deal a lot for the A's. In his prime, solid contract for the next 5 years, no vital pieces dealt, and moves Khrush Davis to Dh.

Yeah, even in a down year, Piscotty had a 13% walk rate. He had some injury issues as well, this is a great buy low deal for the A's.

Piscotty's mom passed away last night. A horrible tragedy for the family, but at least Stephen was able to spend more time around the family. Glad the Cards and A's were able to make a good baseball trade, but also aware enough of the off-field impact it would have on him.

Reading their story is heartbreaking, but amazing at the same time.

Here's a quote:

"We usually end [the day] playing the guitar with 'Amazing Grace,'" Stephen Piscotty told ESPN about taking care of his mother. It was a song she used to play for him as a child on a music box. "It's definitely emotional. Playing it is kind of a full circle aspect going on there. It gives me some little bit of peace, and I hope it does the same for her."

Ouch that story hurts to read. Still all the best from the STL, Piscotty family.
