4 million is the going rate for a 2nd pairing D. the devils are basically forced to use him as a #1 D, which is asking too much from him so far.

He'd be the second highest paid defenseman on the Bruins. That money could be far better spent. Comparing bad contracts to worse contracts is not the way it should work.

A better comparison would be the way the Islanders have compensated Ryan Pullock. Now earning a larger contract - for two years - after earning it.

It's like we collect complete loonies on this board. I recall that maniac that always insisted Lovejoy was the best and waited for that stiff to score a hat trick game after game. Now that was some crazy player evaluation. That guy needed some thorazine and a straight jacket. Fortunately, I have a very discerning eye and my player evaluations are always spot on.

It’s true after losing Krug and not resigning Chara the Bruin’s 2nd highest paid defenseman, Grzelcyk, makes 3.69m because he signed he just signed a team friendly deal with a top contender in this flat cap market. Grz is also 5’9”, is an offensive defenseman with a career high 21 points and the difference is between their contracts is ~476k so who cares.

I’m delighted that Ryan Pulock’s two year contract fits you sense of fair play but he’s the NYI’s best defenseman and he’s going to be a UFA when that deal ends. Pulock’s 26, he’s a proven commodity, and not getting him on a longer deal now is a disaster but the NYI’s cap couldn’t fit a longer ~7m deal.

I agree with the consensus, Blackwood getting Jarry's deal would be perfect. There is no sense in committing long term to a goalie in this day and age, so a bridge deal and keeping him an RFA would definitely be sound.

Bratt you could certainly go in either direction and it would be fine. Here's hoping this is his full on breakout year.

It was a Nicholas Cage comic book movie. Without spoiling too much, there is a moment in the film where what Number6 joked about was a thing. It was a meh moment for me and I thought the writers could have done better, as could Number6.
