Absolute legend - he'll be greatly missed.

Stan Fischler to retire from TV

He has been a very constant person in hockey, I remember at 6 years old I read one of his books when it came out in 1972 lOL...

Was at the Starbucks in Plainview once about 12 years ago and held the door open for him, and made eye contact but did not compute that it was him until I was in the parking lot LOL, would have loved to talk hockey with him, would be like talking rock music with Dave Marsh

The Maven absolutely lives and breathes hockey. Wonderful, consistent presence on the NY metro area hockey scene for so long. Didn't always agree with his viewpoints, but I respect the hell out of the man. I will miss him.

Somehow Garth must have a hand in this. Eliminate the people smarter than yourself . Stan has been a fixture since the brown cable box with the long wire that had 16 up channels and 16 down channels was in my parents family room.

( if you pushed in a certain 2 channel buttons at the same time there was a chance you could see a little free porn ) those were the days

I met him a few times. Super nice guy!!! Sad that his wife passed. I can’t see him going away from the fame completely. He’s been a hockey lifer.

Yes, especially if you also moved the finger wheel adjuster next to the buttons.

Ah yes , how could I forget . Well done !!
I say we allow Stan to coach the team the rest of the season .
If this happened I would bet we make the dance . Of course with no head coaching or managerial experience he could never be offered a job like that with a pro team.( wink )

Was the man in 70s, 80s, 90s, the Bob McKenzie of his day. But, the time comes for all of us and it's definitely time (see recent interview with Bettman). Enjoy the beach, maven.
