All prospects who fit the HF prospect criteria are included.

ELIGIBILITY
-In his Age-24 season, or younger, with fewer than 65 NHL games played for a skater (or 45 games for a goalie).

-If signed out of Europe or the NCAA at age 22 or older, fewer than 65 (skaters) or 45 (goalies) NHL games within three years of signing.

RULES
Each poll runs 24 hours and is public. Vote for your choice and nominate a prospect from the list below to replace that player on the subsequent poll.

If there is a tie in the Top 10, there will be a run-off and the losing prospect will be returned to the pool for the next vote. Outside the Top 10, the tie will hold, the two highest Adds will be added and we'll move on.

In the past, we've also done skater-only and goalie-only threads, as well as aggregate-type of rankings. If someone is interested, they are welcome to inherit that responsibility.

Pu has to win this round, right?

Runner up twice?

Seeing how this poll played out, I think he’s really underrated.

What’s the rationale for Pu ahead of Baptiste? They’re strike me as incredibly similar prospects only Pu is a few years behind Baptiste in development.

Nelson, add Laaksonen

I don't feel that strongly about this vote. I was redoing my rankings coming in to the 1st poll as Nelson was playing so well... I probably overrated him.

I don’t see them as similar players, maybe similar nhl paths.

Baptiste is a classic complimentary player.
Speed, two way, finisher. I actually believe he has a future in buffalo, I just don’t think it’ll be in the top6.

Pu is faster, better two way, and less of a finisher, more of an all around guy. This guy has shown that he can drive his own line in the ohl.

So factoring in the above + age, I rank Pu higher. I think he is better at the post draft 2 year than baptiste was, and could project better too.

I think this could be the best line in the ahl next year, around mid season:

Mittelstadt Asplund Pu

I doubt the best line in the AHL is formed with 3 AHL rookies...

That’s why I said mid season. I don’t think it starts that way, I don’t even think they’ll start together. However, that line has everything you need to succeed in modern hockey, which is why I think it’ll be tried eventually, and will be dominant.

You have more confidence in this organizations ability to put together high quality lines :)

I don't know if Pu is significantly faster than Baptiste or more productive at this point in his development though. Baptiste was an excellent 2-way player before going to Erie to work with McDavid and seeing his finish flourish. He still has more potential to develop but in terms of toolset, they aren't that far from one another.

Quite a bit of similarity actually but at the same point of development Baptiste was arguably the better prospect if the coaches awards were any indicator (baptiste nominated for best shot, 2X best skater, best shootout, most underrated, most dangerous in goal area vs PU best skater, best faceoffs. Skating on both is very good, quite recognized for each, very similar offensive numbers, Baptiste known as a better defender/PK and forechecker at that age.

But its always the untapped potential vs one is who already playing argument. It is more of a personal opinion of which you prefer.
