Advice: skate sharpener

You’ll be hard pushed to find one. I saw a Wissota on eBay, expensive and it didn’t sell. You can buy a Wissota from the US, over a grand in UK money. The Sparx might be your best bet when they find a distributor, again over a grand a pop.

you'd have to do a lot of sharpenings for it to justify the price of buying one. probably better off paying the LHS.

It depends also on how much you value your time, and the availability of local sharpeners. In my case I have to drive 25 miles each way, so that's 1 gallon of petrol, 1.5 hours of my time and £6 for the sharpening. So the total cost is about £15 a pop. 70 sharpenings will be the same price as buying a machine, so the machine will pay itself off in about 3 years, ignoring the convenience of not driving 50 miles every fortnight. And as a bonus, I could sharpen my skates every week. I love freshly sharpened blades.
