It's funny how the NHL network keeps listing it a a 3rd when anyone who knows anything about the conditions knows there is less than a one percent chance of the pick being a 3rd rounder and that they should just list it as a 7th and say long-shot conditions can make it a 3rd.

Trading Hannan and Irwin wouldn't save Hasso much money. They only make $1M each and an AHLer would cost around $650k. That's for the full season and we only have a bit less than 1/4 left. They'd save a bit but probably not worth the effort if you're only interested in saving money. Esp bc they may want to keep our borderline AHL/NHL D on that team for playoff experience there.

Niemi, OTOH, makes $3.8M so DW could have saved some money there.

Maybe DW was trying to arrange trades for Niemi but could not find a team willing to take that kind of a cap hit for renting a mediocre goalie.

I think that was likely. At least a couple of credible sources reported that he was being actively shopped.

Nice to hear that manbearpig is doing well. Always liked him but he just wasn't a fit in San Jose. Think he'll do much better in the east.
