Each correct pick gets a point. Winner gets $250,000 for their team.

Here are the Flames selections:

1: New York Islanders - Nail Yakupov
The consensus #1 pick shouldn't give the Islanders any headaches.

2: Tampa Bay - Teuvo Teravainen
Home country favorite is an easy pick here.

3: New Jersey - Filip Forsberg
Jersey will take the upside at forward.

4: Pittsburgh - Ryan Murray
Best defenseman in a draft full of good ones.

5: Philadelphia - Alex Galchenyuk
The first American goes off the board.

6: New York Rangers - Matthew Dumba
The Rangers take who I think is the best NHL prospect in the draft.

7: Winnipeg - Morgan Reilly
So many defenseman in this draft who if they were a few inches taller would contending for the 1st overall pick.

8: Edmonton - Mikhail Grigorenko
Edmonton wants a forward. They'll probably trade down rather than take the Russian.

9: Pittsburgh - Hampus Lindholm
This Sedin Sister loving GM won't be afraid of the Swede.

10: Phoenix - Zemgus Girgensons
They may favor an OHL'er but there is a soft spot here for Girgensons.

11: San Jose - Sebastian Collberg
Another home country favorite?

12: Pittsburgh - Thomas Wilson
Wait, did someone say Lucic look-alike?

13: San Jose - Olli Maata
More Euros for the Euros.

14: Dallas - Jacob Trouba
Dallas will be happy that Trouba's stock is slipping for no good reason as the draft approaches.

15: Boston - Griffin Reinhart
Another faller from his rankings falls to Boston.

16: NYI - Scott Laughton
The Isles are astute. And the astute money is on Laughton to climb on draft day.

17: Montreal - Cody Ceci
Montreal will take the big body on D.

18: St. Louis - Radek Faska
He may not have 1st line upside - but he's right in the Blues wheelhouse.

19: Chicago - Brendan Gaunce
The Hawks need some forward prospects to come through and hope Gaunce has some upside.

20: Buffalo - Derek Pouliot
Smooth skating Dman will help Buffalo in a few years.

21: Tampa Bay - Matt Finn
He's a Finn in name only...

22: Tampa Bay - Henrik Samuelsson
HS strong playoffs help him jump the rankings

23: Winnipeg - Tomas Hertl
It's been a while since the Czechs pumped out prospects on a regular basis. They are starting to get back.

24: Ottawa - Phillip Di Giuseppe
Upside. Upside. Upside.

25: Florida - Slater KoekKoek
BrockBrock won't be afraid to take the injury prone Dman.

26: Anaheim - Brady Skjei
Always a solid drafter, Anaheim takes another good Yank.

27: New Jersey - Martin Frk
The Dvls take the Man with No Vowels.

28: Nashville - Andrei Vasilevski
Tim who?

29: LA/Winnipeg - Nicola Kerdiles
Late 1st is the clearing ground for American prospects playing below the CHL

30: LA/Winnipeg - Dalton Thrower
A little brash toughness will go long way

For the Jackets:

1: New York Islanders - Nail Yakupov
Would probably not be the pick if there was anyone else in his class, but there isn't.

2: Tampa Bay - Filip Forsberg
Best all-around player a cornerstone to build a team around, even if he wasn't Swedish.

3: New Jersey - Ryan Murray
Scott Niedermayer, anyone? Murray steps right in.

4: Pittsburgh -Alex Galchenyuk
With Murray off the board and lots of other good defenders available for their later picks, the Pens take the best remaining forward.

5: Philadelphia - Morgan Rielly
After slight disappointments from Paajarvi-Svensson and Niederreiter, Philly avoids Teravainen and selects Doughty's future defense partner.

6: New York Rangers - Matthew Dumba
The Rangers build from the blueline out.

7: Winnipeg - Teuvo Teravainen
The Jets are thrilled to add a game-breaking finisher to line up on Tavares' wing for the next decade.

8: Edmonton - Jacob Trouba
Edmonton might want a forward, but the next Suter is too good to pass up.

9: Pittsburgh - Griffin Reinhart
Pens want no part of Grigorenko's act. Disappointed Trouba is gone, but is unfazed by questions around Reinhart.

10: Phoenix - Olli Maatta
Somewhat tempted by Faska, but believe Maatta is a bigger version of Keith Yandle.

11: San Jose - Mikhail Grigorenko
Sharks swing for the fences on Grigorenko's pure talent and upside.

12: Pittsburgh - Cody Ceci
Grabs the other blueline bookend with a big-bodied puck mover to pair with Reinhart.

13: San Jose - Sebastien Collberg
Sharks continue to bet on talent.

14: Dallas - Brendan Gaunce
Desperately needs quality blueliners, but can't resist uniting the brothers. Gaunce provides great depth down the middle - playing behind Toews and Burmistrov might be nearly as good as Staal playing behind Crosby and Malkin.

15: Boston - Hampus Lindholm
Finally, someone who can understand what King Louie is saying when he's had too many wobbly pops down at the Rusty Bean!

16: NYI - Derrick Pouliot
Tempted to grab a center, but the need for help on the blueline is greater. Pouliot + Yakupov
makes for one solid draft for the Isles.

17: Montreal - Radek Faska
Montreal not hung up on need, simply going BPA.

18: St. Louis - Matthew Finn
Planning for a future without Pronger or Chara, Blues take the smartest defenseman in the draft.

19: Chicago - Zemgus Girgensons
Hawks very aware that Pavelski needs help. Girgensons a potential home run here.

20: Buffalo - Andrei Vasilevski
A potential star to push (and eventually take mantle from) Luongo.

21: Tampa Bay - Pontus Aberg
Nice when BPA continues to align with nationality. Aberg the perfect bookend for Forsberg.

22: Tampa Bay - Oscar Dansk
Gaping hole in Tampa's net begging for stopper of Dansk's potential. Tampa will hope to pick up one of Bystrom or Samuelsson at 32.

23: Winnipeg - Slater Koekkoek
Jets want to build patiently with talent and balance, and so look to the blueline
after taking Teravainen. Get a great competitor and character guy in Koekkoek.

24: Ottawa - Tomas Hertl
Skating will improve, and brings everything else to the table already.

25: Florida - Scott Laughton
Shades of Mike Richards here. Technically wants to go after Subban, but will try to trade up to get him early in the second if he's still there.

26: Anaheim - Phil Di Giuseppe
Super freshman does it all, and is that much closer to the NHL having already played a year at Michigan.

27: New Jersey - Tom Wilson
Devils like them big and ornery. Wilson fits the bill.

28: Nashville - Ludwig Bystrom
Having Markstrom means there's no need to panic about a goalie for the future (the present is another matter entirely), but the blueline desperately needs an injection of young talent.

29: Winnipeg - Colton Sissons
Future Captain is good value here for the Jets... depending on who you read.

30: LA - Mark Jankowski
Kings (hey, I calls 'em like I sees 'em) put the cherry on top of their likely Cup Champion sundae by taking a guy who may end up going top-15 if GMs think he can rise to the challenge of higher competition. [/QUOTE]

Built like Pasi like them to be.

14: Dallas - Cody Ceci
Best defence available and can step this year in NHL

Could be the next Anze Kopitar

16: NYI - Stefan Matteau

BrockBrock won't be afraid to take the injury prone Dman.

26: Anaheim - Brady Skjei
Always a solid drafter, Anaheim takes another good Yank.

27: New Jersey - Martin Frk

I give up on the game of hockey if this happens in the real NHL draft.

I'm so glad you said that. I have Ceci, Wilson, plus Reinhart as my top 3 most overrated this year. Yes I know I'm very much in the minority on Reinhart.

Please explain further what we are trying to match in this pool. The NHL or what our fellow HFNHL GM's will pick? Based on some of the commentary I assume it's the latter but want to confirm.

I wish I had time to put a mock draft together, but I enjoy reading the explanations and the ones that have been posted so far look great. I don't show my hand very often but I will say, while Olli Maatta is about as educated of a guess you can make considering my draft tendencies and where I live. But I saw Maatta play all season and I wouldn't select him if he was available at #40 for my second round pick :) It's actually not out of the question for me to take a player that NHL Central thinks is not as good as Maatta. Thats just my opinion on him, I know some out there love him so I doubt he drops to 15 let alone 40 lol.

Oh well, there goes my pool! ;) Maatta did seem underwhelming during the season. He really stepped it up for the playoffs, but it always raises questions: which one is the real player? Tell you what, save yourself the trouble and give the pick to Columbus - that way you don't have to worry about it. :D
